Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an AI
Frame your degree field precisely
AI roles span multiple specializations, and consular officers check whether your degree field matches the position. A degree in computer science or mathematics supports most ML roles, but a general IT degree may draw scrutiny for a research scientist title.
Target employers with existing LCA filings
Companies that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for AI or software roles already understand the E-3 process. Searching DOL's OFLC disclosure data by job title filters for employers with demonstrated sponsorship history in this space.
Clarify specialty occupation status early
Some AI contractor and embedded consulting roles are structured so any bachelor's degree qualifies, which disqualifies them as specialty occupations. Ask hiring managers whether the role's job description specifies a degree in a particular field before you invest time in the process.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for your LCA
The LCA must be certified by DOL before your consulate appointment, and errors in wage level classification are a common delay. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork so nothing stalls between offer acceptance and your start date.
Request an E-3 annotation at the consulate
When attending your consulate interview in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth, confirm the visa is annotated with your specific job title and employer. An annotation that's too broad or inaccurate can complicate future renewals if your role description evolves.
Plan your renewal timeline around project cycles
E-3 renewals require a fresh LCA and updated visa stamp, which takes four to eight weeks end-to-end. AI project timelines often shift, so initiate renewal paperwork at least 90 days before your current status expires to avoid gaps.

Find AI JobsAI E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find AI jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists AI roles from employers with active E-3 sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the visa. Filter by job title and location, then apply directly to roles where the employer has already demonstrated willingness to file an LCA and support the E-3 process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Do AI roles qualify as specialty occupations for the E-3?
Most AI roles qualify when the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as computer science, mathematics, or a related discipline. Roles in machine learning engineering, NLP research, and data science typically meet the standard. Generalist titles where any degree is acceptable may not qualify, so the job description's degree requirement is the deciding factor.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for AI professionals?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap, so you can start at any time of year rather than waiting for an October 1 start date. H-1B selection is random with roughly a 25 to 30 percent chance of being picked. For Australian nationals in AI, the E-3 is a faster and more predictable path to U.S. employment, provided the role meets specialty occupation requirements.
Can I change employers or roles while on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new visa stamp if you've already entered on your current employer's E-3. Your status is tied to the specific employer named on the LCA, so you can't start with a new company until their LCA is DOL-certified. Changing job titles within the same employer may also require an updated LCA if the wage level or job classification shifts materially.
