E-3 Visa AI Product Engineer Jobs
AI Product Engineer roles at U.S. tech companies qualify as E-3 specialty occupations, making E-3 visa sponsorship accessible to Australian nationals without the H-1B lottery. Your employer files a Labor Condition Application before your consulate appointment, and the visa renews indefinitely in two-year increments as long as you hold a qualifying role.

Discover your future at Citi
Working at Citi is far more than just a job. A career with us means joining a team of more than 230,000 dedicated people from around the globe. At Citi, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your career, give back to your community and make a real impact.
Job Overview
AI Product Engineer, Banking Technology - Senior Vice President (Hybrid)
Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and hands-on AI Product Engineer to join our Banking Technology group. This is a senior-level, strategic role designed for a leader who thrives at the intersection of product management, artificial intelligence, and software engineering. You will be responsible for shaping the future of our financial products by identifying high-impact opportunities for AI and leading the end-to-end lifecycle from concept to scaled production.
This is not a traditional development role. We are looking for a product-minded technologist who can bridge the gap between complex business challenges and cutting-edge AI solutions. You will be heavier on the "product" side—defining the vision, strategy, and roadmap—while maintaining the deep technical expertise to guide a cross-functional team in building and shipping world-class, AI-powered applications.
Responsibilities
- Define the Vision: Own the product strategy for AI initiatives within Banking Technology. Analyze market trends, internal business processes, and user pain points to identify and champion new opportunities for AI-driven innovation.
- Drive the Roadmap: Translate the product vision into a clear, actionable roadmap. Develop and prioritize features, epics, and user stories to guide the engineering team.
- Lead from the Front: Act as the key technical and product leader for a dedicated team of engineers. Mentor team members, establish modern engineering best practices and foster a culture of excellence and rapid iteration.
- Bridge Business and Tech: Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, end-users, and the development team. Articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and translate business requirements into robust technical designs.
- Hands-On Prototyping and Architecture: Be prepared to get hands-on with building proofs-of-concept and initial prototypes to validate ideas quickly.
- Champion and Influence: Influence and negotiate with senior leadership to secure buy-in and resources for your product vision. Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Manage Risk and Compliance: Uphold the firm's commitment to risk management and compliance. Ensure that all product decisions and technical implementations adhere to the highest standards of security, ethics, and regulatory requirements, safeguarding the firm and its clients.
Qualification:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in technology, with a proven track record of shipping products from concept to launch in a product-centric or entrepreneurial role.
- Product & Engineering Hybrid: Demonstrated experience in a role that blends product management (defining the "what" and "why") with software engineering (defining the "how").
- AI/ML Expertise: Deep subject matter expertise in applying modern AI/ML techniques to solve real-world business problems. Experience with NLP, predictive modeling, or generative AI is highly desirable.
- Domain Knowledge: A strong understanding of core banking and financial technology domains (e.g., commercial banking, risk, transaction services, capital markets).
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment. Experience with project management and influencing without direct authority.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive decisions among senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.
- Technical Acumen: While this is a product-heavy role, you should have a strong foundation in software engineering principles and be comfortable discussing architecture and code with your team.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an AI Product Engineer
Frame your degree field precisely
Consular officers assess whether your degree directly supports your AI Product Engineering role. A software engineering or computer science degree maps cleanly, but an unrelated field requires documented equivalency through coursework transcripts or a credential evaluation that ties your background to AI systems development.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for AI, machine learning, or product engineering roles. Prior filings signal an employer already understands the E-3 process, reducing the risk of a sponsorship conversation starting from zero.
Address dual intent before your interview
The E-3 requires nonimmigrant intent, but AI product roles often attract candidates with long-term U.S. ambitions. Prepare a clear explanation of your current intent that's consistent across your DS-160 and interview answers, since contradictions are a common source of 221(g) administrative processing delays.
Push for the offer letter before LCA filing starts
Your employer can't file the LCA with DOL until your job title, SOC code, and worksite address are confirmed. Delays here compress your timeline to your start date, so get a written offer specifying these details before your employer engages their HR or legal team to begin the LCA.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork from certification through consulate preparation. This is especially useful for first-time E-3 applicants at companies that have never sponsored an Australian before.
Verify your consulate location strategy early
You can apply at any U.S. consulate accepting E-3 applications, not only those in Australia. If Sydney or Melbourne appointment wait times are long, check whether Perth or a third-country consulate offers faster scheduling before you commit to a start date with your employer.

Find AI Product Engineer JobsAI Product Engineer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find AI Product Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for AI Product Engineer roles at U.S. employers who sponsor E-3 visas, filtering out companies unlikely to support Australian applicants. Standard job platforms don't distinguish E-3 sponsorship from general work authorization, so you often can't tell whether an employer has any experience with the process until you're already deep in conversations.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an AI Product Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation under the E-3?
Yes. AI Product Engineer positions require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, which satisfies the E-3 specialty occupation definition. The role must involve the theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge, and the employer must document that a degree in a specific field is standard or required for the position at their company.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian AI Product Engineers?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation exclusively for Australians that has never been exhausted, meaning there's no lottery and no random selection. The H-1B is subject to an oversubscribed lottery that rejected roughly 75 percent of registrants in recent fiscal years. For Australian nationals in AI product roles, the E-3 is a direct path to employment authorization without the multi-year uncertainty the H-1B process involves.
Can I switch AI Product Engineer employers on an E-3?
Yes, but each new employer must file a fresh LCA and you need a new E-3 visa stamp or an approved change of status before you start working. You don't carry your existing E-3 to a new company. If you're already in the U.S., you can begin working for a new employer while your new E-3 application is pending only if you've properly bridged your status, which requires careful timing around your current visa expiry and I-94 end date.
