Lab seeks the finest employees to join our vibrant learning community. We employ people with a wide range of skills and training in many different disciplines, who have in common a love of learning and the wish to inspire that same love of learning in young people. We seek candidates for employment who thrive in an educational environment. We provide a great professional home for those committed to collaboration, ongoing personal and professional growth, and cultivating positive relationships. In turn, we strive to ensure that Lab is a joyful, welcoming, and inspiring place to work. Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Assistant Teacher
Verify your degree meets specialty occupation
Australian three-year education degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year bachelor's degrees for E-3 purposes, but your offer letter must specify that a degree in education is required, not merely preferred.
Target districts with active LCA filing history
Public school districts and private K-12 schools that have previously filed Labor Condition Applications with DOL are set up for the process. Prioritize roles at institutions with dedicated HR teams managing international hires.
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
Many U.S. schools require a foreign credential evaluation before extending an offer. Order a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator early so your application isn't delayed once an employer shows interest.
Clarify state teaching certification requirements upfront
Most Assistant Teacher roles don't require full state licensure, but some districts apply the same credential standards as lead teachers. Ask during screening whether the role requires a state-issued teaching certificate before the E-3 petition is filed.
Search for E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork once you have an offer. Migrate Mate manages the process from DOL certification through to your consulate appointment, removing the administrative burden from your employer.
Time your consulate appointment around the school calendar
U.S. consulates in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth can have multi-week appointment backlogs. File the LCA as soon as your offer is confirmed so your visa interview is scheduled before your intended start date.

Find Assistant Teacher JobsAssistant Teacher E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Assistant Teacher jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that include E-3 visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards and guessing which employers understand the E-3, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process for Australian applicants.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Assistant Teacher role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It can, but the position must require a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as education, early childhood development, or a subject-area discipline. Roles where any degree is accepted regardless of field are harder to support. Your employer's offer letter should state the degree requirement explicitly, and the job duties should reflect professional-level work rather than paraprofessional support tasks.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Australian teachers?
The E-3 has a dedicated annual allocation of 10,500 visas exclusively for Australian nationals, and it has never been fully used, so there is no lottery. The H-1B requires employers to enter a randomised selection process with no guarantee of selection. For Australian professionals in education, the E-3 is a far more predictable option because approval depends on meeting eligibility requirements, not winning a draw.
Can I transfer my E-3 to a new school district if I change jobs?
Yes, but the process starts fresh with the new employer. Your new district must file a certified LCA with DOL and, if you're already in the U.S. on E-3 status, file an amended petition with USCIS or you can apply for a new E-3 stamp at a consulate before starting. You should not begin work at the new school until the new LCA is certified.
