Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Paralegal Instructor
Frame your Australian credentials for U.S. employers
A three-year Australian law or legal studies degree satisfies the E-3 bachelor's equivalency requirement. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized agency before applying, so hiring committees don't question your qualifications at the offer stage.
Target institutions with existing visa infrastructure
Law schools, ABA-approved paralegal programs, and community college legal departments file LCAs regularly. These institutions have HR teams familiar with DOL prevailing wage requirements, which shortens the time from offer to sponsorship agreement.
Confirm the role meets specialty occupation requirements
Paralegal Instructor positions must require a degree in a specific field, not just any bachelor's degree. Postings that list 'any degree plus paralegal experience' may not satisfy the E-3 specialty occupation definition, so verify the job description before investing time in an application.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the LCA and paperwork
Once you have a signed offer letter, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the DOL Labor Condition Application and all consulate preparation. This removes the administrative burden from both you and an employer who may be sponsoring an E-3 for the first time.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before accepting the offer
Ask your prospective employer to confirm in writing that they'll file the LCA and provide the support letter before you resign from your current role. Paralegal programs at smaller colleges sometimes assume the candidate handles their own visa, so clarifying this early avoids last-minute complications.
Book your consulate appointment as soon as the LCA is certified
DOL certifies most LCAs within seven business days. Schedule your Australian consulate interview immediately after, since appointment slots at Sydney and Melbourne can book out weeks in advance during semester changeover periods.

Find Paralegal Instructor JobsParalegal Instructor E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Paralegal Instructor jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Search Migrate Mate to filter Paralegal Instructor roles by E-3 visa sponsorship. Many academic and vocational institutions don't advertise sponsorship in job postings but will support an E-3 when asked, since there's no lottery and employer costs are lower than for an H-1B. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active sponsorship history so you can focus on realistic targets.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Paralegal Instructor role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the employer requires a bachelor's degree or higher in legal studies, paralegal studies, or a closely related field as a minimum qualification. If the job description accepts any degree field or substitutes extensive experience for a degree, the specialty occupation requirement may not be met and the E-3 application could be challenged at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Paralegal Instructor positions?
The E-3 is available only to Australian citizens, but it has no annual cap and no lottery, so you can apply at any time of year. The H-1B has an 85,000-slot annual cap with a randomized lottery, meaning most applicants wait years for selection. For Paralegal Instructor roles, the E-3 is a faster and more predictable path than the H-1B for eligible Australians.
Can I change employers or institutions while on an E-3 as a Paralegal Instructor?
Yes, but each employer change requires a new LCA filed with DOL and a new E-3 visa or a change of status. You can start working for a new institution once the new LCA is certified and either a new visa is issued or the change of status is approved. Carrying copies of both your current and new LCA during any transition period is advisable.
