E-3 Visa Automation Engineer Jobs
Automation Engineer roles in manufacturing, automotive, and industrial tech are strong fits for E-3 visa sponsorship because they require a specialized engineering degree and fall squarely within the specialty occupation definition. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so Australian engineers can pursue U.S. opportunities year-round without the H-1B visa registration window.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Automation Engineer
Verify your degree maps to the role
Automation Engineering spans mechanical, electrical, and mechatronics disciplines. Before applying, confirm your Australian bachelor's aligns with the specific job description, a mismatch between your degree field and the advertised role is one of the most common E-3 visa consular objections.
Target manufacturers with existing LCA history
Employers who've filed Labor Condition Applications before know the DOL process and won't stall at the sponsorship conversation. Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure data for automation, controls, or PLC engineer LCA filings to build a shortlist of experienced sponsors.
Find E-3 roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to search Automation Engineer positions where employers are already open to E-3 sponsorship. Filtering by visa type upfront saves weeks of back-and-forth with recruiters unfamiliar with the Australian-only pathway.
Get your credentials assessed before the offer stage
Australian three-year engineering degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's, but having a credential evaluation ready before your consular interview removes uncertainty and speeds up the employer's LCA filing decision.
Clarify sponsorship scope in the offer negotiation
Some employers will cover LCA and visa filing costs; others expect you to arrange it. Confirm which fees the employer is absorbing before you accept, since DOL rules require the employer to pay the LCA certification fee directly.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and consulate prep
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate appointment preparation. Automation Engineer roles often involve multiple worksites, which requires accurate LCA scope from the start.
E-3 Visa Automation Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Automation Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles that include E-3 visa sponsorship. Rather than filtering through general job boards where visa status is an afterthought, Migrate Mate surfaces Automation Engineer positions from employers already open to sponsoring the E-3, so you're not wasting time on roles that won't move forward.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Automation Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS defines a specialty occupation as one requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Automation Engineering roles tied to PLC programming, robotics integration, or industrial control systems consistently meet this standard because they require a specific engineering background, electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics, not just any degree.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Automation Engineers?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals, but it has two major advantages over the H-1B for eligible candidates: no annual lottery and no numerical cap. H-1B registrations are subject to a randomized selection process each April, meaning qualified engineers can be excluded by chance. The E-3 can be filed any time of year and renewed indefinitely as long as you hold a qualifying role.
Can I transfer my E-3 to a new Automation Engineer employer?
Yes, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new E-3 visa stamp if you travel internationally before the transfer is complete. There's no formal portability rule like AC21 for H-1B holders. If you're changing employers while already in the U.S., coordinate your start date carefully to avoid a gap in authorized status.
