Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Engineering Manager
Translate your credentials before applying
Your Australian engineering degree is accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's, but some employers need confirmation. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES member before interviews so you're not scrambling when HR asks.
Target employers with active LCA filing histories
Engineering Manager roles involve managing technical teams, which some U.S. employers assume rules out E-3 sponsorship. Search DOL's FLAG portal to find companies that have filed LCAs for engineering leadership roles specifically.
Clarify the specialty occupation case for your role
Employers sometimes hesitate on engineering management sponsorship because the job blends leadership with technical work. Document that a bachelor's in engineering is normally required for the role to satisfy the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service after your offer
Once you have a signed offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork. This avoids the most common post-offer delays: LCA errors, prevailing wage miscalculations, and consulate document gaps.
Request employer involvement early in the process
The LCA requires your employer to file with DOL before you can book a consulate appointment. Raise this timeline at the offer stage, not after you've accepted, so HR doesn't treat it as a last-minute ask.
Prepare your technical leadership portfolio for the consulate
Consular officers assess whether your role genuinely qualifies as a specialty occupation. Bring evidence that your Engineering Manager position requires engineering-specific judgment: org charts, project scopes, and your degree transcripts all support this.

Find Engineering Manager JobsEngineering Manager E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Engineering Manager jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. It surfaces Engineering Manager positions at employers who understand the E-3 process, so you're not cold-pitching companies that have never sponsored an Australian before.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Engineering Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the role normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a directly related field. The key is that the degree must be in a specific discipline relevant to the job, not just any degree. If your job description emphasizes general management with no engineering-specific requirement, the specialty occupation case weakens. Roles that combine technical engineering judgment with team leadership are well-positioned.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Engineering Manager positions?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap, so you can apply at any time of year and sponsor an Engineering Manager role without waiting for an April registration window. H-1B selection is random and takes months before a start date is possible. For Australian professionals, the E-3 is the more predictable path to a U.S. engineering leadership role.
Can I change companies while on an E-3 as an Engineering Manager?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new E-3 stamp before re-entering the U.S. if you travel internationally. You can start work for the new employer once the LCA is certified and you have a valid visa, but the process restarts from the beginning. Plan for at least a few weeks between accepting an offer and your first day.
