Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Facilities Engineer
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
Australian engineering degrees are three years, not four. Have a NACES-approved credential evaluator confirm your qualification is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree before submitting applications, so employers don't stall at the offer stage.
Target employers with in-house facilities teams
Large corporate real estate portfolios, hospital networks, and university campuses typically have in-house facilities departments with dedicated HR and legal resources. These employers are far more likely to understand E-3 visa sponsorship than facilities management contractors who rely on third-party staffing.
Search verified E-3 sponsorship roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Facilities Engineer roles at employers who have active E-3 sponsorship history. Searching without filtering by visa type wastes time on employers who won't sponsor.
Frame your specialization around U.S. licensing gaps
If you hold a Certified Facility Manager credential or have HVAC, BMS, or critical systems experience, lead with that in applications. U.S. employers in healthcare and data centers face real shortages in these specializations and are more motivated to go through E-3 sponsorship.
Clarify the LCA before accepting an offer
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before you can proceed to a consulate appointment. Confirm your employer understands this step and has a timeline in place before you resign from your current role in Australia.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the full process
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This is especially useful when your employer's HR team has no prior E-3 experience and needs guided support through DOL and consulate preparation.
E-3 Visa Facilities Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Facilities Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Facilities Engineer roles at employers with verified E-3 sponsorship history. Generic job searches won't surface whether an employer is willing to file an LCA and support a consulate application. Migrate Mate filters specifically for E-3-eligible roles, which saves you from applying to positions where sponsorship isn't on the table.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Facilities Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for E-3?
Yes, Facilities Engineer roles qualify as specialty occupations when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, facilities management, or a closely related technical field. The key is that the degree requirement must be specific to the role. Generalist facilities coordinator positions that accept any degree may not meet the specialty occupation standard, so the job title and description in your offer letter matter.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Facilities Engineers?
The E-3 is available only to Australian nationals and has no lottery, no annual cap, and no registration fee. H-1B requires entering a randomized lottery each April, and selection is not guaranteed. For Facilities Engineers, this means an E-3 holder can start work within months of receiving an offer, while an H-1B applicant may wait over a year or not be selected at all. Renewals are also indefinite under E-3, provided the role and employer remain qualifying.
Can I change employers or facilities sites while on an E-3?
Changing employers requires your new employer to file a fresh LCA with the DOL and support a new E-3 application. You don't need to return to Australia in every case, but your E-3 status is tied to the specific employer and role on your petition. Moving between sites or projects under the same employer generally doesn't require a new filing, but a change in job duties significant enough to alter the specialty occupation classification can trigger a review.
