Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Mechatronics Technician
Verify your degree maps to the role
E-3 requires your bachelor's degree to align with the specific job, not just engineering broadly. A mechatronics or electromechanical engineering degree supports this role directly; a general business degree won't.
Target manufacturers running advanced automation lines
U.S. manufacturers in automotive, semiconductor, and medical device sectors regularly hire mechatronics technicians and have existing LCA infrastructure. Searching by NAICS codes for these industries narrows your list to employers familiar with technical visa sponsorship.
Ask employers about LCA filing before accepting an offer
Some hiring managers assume LCA filing is lengthy when DOL typically certifies within seven business days. Clarifying this early removes a common objection before it stalls your offer.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for end-to-end paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation. This prevents common errors in wage attestation and specialty occupation documentation specific to technical roles.
Document hands-on certifications alongside your degree
USCIS evaluates whether the role requires a specific degree, not just technical skills. Certifications in PLCs, robotics, or CNC systems support the specialty occupation argument when paired with your formal qualifications.
Prepare for prevailing wage questions during negotiations
Your offer must meet the DOL prevailing wage for the role's location and job zone. Knowing the relevant wage tier for mechatronics technicians in your target city lets you negotiate without accidentally falling below the threshold.

Find Mechatronics Technician JobsMechatronics Technician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Mechatronics Technician jobs that offer E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters roles by E-3 sponsorship willingness and surfaces employers with LCA filing history for technical positions. General job boards don't filter by visa type, so you end up contacting employers who can't or won't sponsor, which wastes time during an active job search.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Mechatronics Technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
It qualifies when the employer's job description requires a bachelor's degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering, or a directly related field. Roles that list the degree as preferred rather than required, or that accept any engineering background, are harder to support. The stronger your job description's degree specificity, the cleaner the specialty occupation argument.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Mechatronics Technician roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap that causes uncertainty, so Australian nationals can apply any time they have a qualifying offer. The H-1B selection rate is around 25% in recent years, meaning most applicants aren't selected regardless of qualifications. For the same mechatronics role with the same employer, the E-3 path is faster and more predictable.
Can I switch Mechatronics Technician employers after arriving on an E-3?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific, so you can't simply transfer it. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp, typically obtained at a U.S. consulate in Australia or during international travel. You can start working for the new employer once the new LCA is certified and you hold a valid E-3 stamp for that employer.
