E-3 Visa Construction Engineer Jobs
Construction Engineer roles in the U.S. qualify as E-3 specialty occupations when they require a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or a related engineering discipline. Australian professionals can secure E-3 visa sponsorship without entering a lottery, and the visa renews every two years as long as you maintain qualifying employment.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Construction Engineer
Get your credentials formally evaluated
Australian three-year engineering degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree, but your employer may request a formal evaluation. Obtain a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before you start applying.
Target firms with active DOL filing history
Search DOL's public Labor Condition Application disclosure data to identify engineering firms that have filed LCAs for construction or civil engineering roles. These employers already understand the E-3 process and are far more likely to proceed quickly.
Clarify your PE licensure status early
Many U.S. construction engineering roles require or prefer a Professional Engineer license. Your Australian CPEng credential doesn't transfer directly, so clarify with each employer whether your role requires PE licensure and what timeline they expect.
Address the specialty occupation requirement directly
Not every construction engineer job listing meets the E-3 specialty occupation standard. Confirm the job description explicitly requires a degree in civil, structural, or a closely related engineering field before you invest time in the application process.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for the paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork end-to-end. This avoids the delays that come from employers filing their first LCA without prior experience.
Time your consulate appointment around project start dates
E-3 visas are issued at Australian consulates, not through USCIS. Sydney and Melbourne typically have shorter appointment wait times than Perth. Book your appointment as soon as the LCA is certified to avoid gaps between your offer acceptance and your U.S. start date.

Find Construction Engineer JobsConstruction Engineer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find Construction Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. It surfaces Construction Engineer positions at employers who are familiar with the E-3 process, so you're not starting the sponsorship conversation from scratch. Searching general job boards makes it difficult to filter for genuine E-3 sponsorship willingness before you apply.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Construction Engineer role qualify as an E-3 specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a closely related discipline. If a job description accepts any bachelor's degree regardless of field, or lists a degree as preferred rather than required, it may not meet the specialty occupation threshold. Always review the job description against USCIS specialty occupation criteria before applying.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Construction Engineers?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no numerical cap that would block you from starting work. H-1B registrations are subject to a randomized selection process with a roughly 25% selection rate in recent fiscal years. For a Construction Engineer with an Australian passport, the E-3 is a more reliable path: you apply directly at an Australian consulate after your employer files the LCA, and approval isn't dependent on a lottery draw.
Can I change construction employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but your E-3 status is tied to your specific employer and role. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll generally need to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp at an Australian consulate before starting work, unless you're changing status from inside the U.S. through USCIS. Plan for a gap of several weeks between roles to allow for consulate processing.
