E-3 Visa Electronic Engineer Jobs
Electronic Engineer roles in the U.S. qualify for E-3 visa sponsorship when the position requires a relevant engineering degree and meets the specialty occupation standard. The E-3 has no lottery and no annual cap, so Australian engineers can apply as soon as they secure a job offer from a U.S. employer willing to file an LCA.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as an Electronic Engineer
Get your credentials assessed before applying
Australian three-year engineering degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree, but having a formal credential evaluation ready speeds up employer review and removes a common objection during the offer stage.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for electrical or electronic engineering roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process move faster and ask fewer questions about E-3 visa sponsorship requirements.
Clarify the specialty occupation link in your resume
Your resume must make it obvious that the role requires a degree in electrical engineering or a directly related field. Generic phrases like 'engineering background' leave room for doubt. Name the specific discipline your degree covers and map it to the job duties.
Address the LCA wage requirement before the offer is finalised
The LCA must certify that your offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for the role and location. Confirm with your employer that the salary they're proposing clears this threshold before you accept, so there's no renegotiation after the process starts.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork
Once you have a job offer, Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service manages the LCA submission, DS-160, and consulate preparation end-to-end. Using a dedicated service reduces errors that cause administrative processing delays at the consulate.
Prepare for specialty occupation questions at the consulate
Consular officers can ask you to explain how your engineering degree directly relates to your specific job duties. Bring your offer letter, degree transcripts, and a brief written summary of the technical responsibilities that require your engineering qualification.
E-3 Visa Electronic Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Electronic Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Australian professionals searching for U.S. roles with E-3 sponsorship. You can filter by job title and see which employers have a track record of E-3 and LCA filings for engineering roles, so you're not applying blind to companies unfamiliar with the process.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does an Electronic Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Electronic engineering meets the specialty occupation standard when the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, electronics, or a closely related field. Roles where the employer would accept any degree, or where no degree is actually required to perform the work, can fail this test at the consulate.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Electronic Engineers in the U.S.?
The E-3 has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no waiting for a selection round. The H-1B visa is subject to an annual cap and a random lottery, meaning a qualified electronic engineer can wait years for an approved slot. Australian citizens can bypass that entirely with the E-3.
Can I switch employers on an E-3 as an Electronic Engineer?
Yes, but you need to restart the process with the new employer. They must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you'll need to attend a new consulate appointment to get a new E-3 stamp. You can't transfer an E-3 between employers the way some other visa categories allow a petition transfer.
