Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Control Electrician
Document your degree equivalency early
Australian three-year electrical engineering degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved evaluator before applying, so employers don't stall your offer waiting on paperwork.
Target employers with active LCA filings
Search the DOL's Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data for companies that have filed LCAs for Control Electrician or similar roles. Employers already familiar with the LCA process move faster and are less likely to back out over E-3 unfamiliarity.
Clarify specialty occupation status upfront
Not every Control Electrician posting qualifies as an E-3 specialty occupation. The job description must require a relevant bachelor's degree, not just list it as preferred. Flag this with the hiring manager before the offer stage to avoid complications at the consulate.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA paperwork
The LCA must be certified by the DOL before your visa interview. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork, so nothing stalls between your job offer and your consulate appointment in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth.
Prepare a prevailing wage file before negotiating
The DOL sets prevailing wage levels for Control Electrician roles by location. Your offered salary must meet the certified LCA wage. Reviewing OFLC wage data for your target city before salary discussions helps you negotiate without triggering a compliance problem.
Time your consulate appointment around project start dates
E-3 visas are issued for up to two years and can be renewed indefinitely, but consulate appointment availability varies by location and season. Book your interview as soon as your LCA is certified to avoid delays pushing back your first day on site.

Find Control Electrician JobsControl Electrician E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Control Electrician jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Control Electrician roles filtered specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship. Most general job boards don't distinguish between visa types, so you can waste weeks applying to roles where the employer has never sponsored an E-3. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active E-3 or LCA filing history for this role category.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Control Electrician role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3 visa?
It depends on how the role is scoped. Control Electrician positions focused on PLC programming, SCADA integration, or process control engineering typically qualify when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Maintenance-only roles or positions where any trade certification is accepted generally won't meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies.
How does the E-3 visa compare to the H-1B for Control Electrician roles?
The E-3 has no annual lottery and no cap that fills up, so you can apply any time of year without waiting for an October start date. H-1B registrations are capped at 85,000 annually and selected by lottery, meaning qualified applicants are frequently not selected. For Australian Control Electricians, the E-3 is the faster and more predictable path to starting work in the U.S.
Can I switch Control Electrician employers while on an E-3 visa?
Yes, but the new employer must file a fresh LCA and you'll need a new E-3 visa reflecting the updated employment. Unlike H-1B portability rules, you can't simply transfer your E-3 status to a new employer without restarting the process. If you're already in the U.S., you can attend a consulate interview in Australia or at a third-country post to get the new visa issued.
