Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Database Reliability Engineer
Translate your credentials into U.S. specialty occupation language
Australian three-year bachelor's degrees are generally accepted as equivalent to U.S. four-year degrees for E-3 purposes, but your offer letter must tie your specific DRE or database engineering degree directly to the role's technical requirements.
Target employers with active DOL LCA filing histories
Search the DOL's Office of Foreign Labor Certification disclosure data to identify companies that have filed LCAs for database reliability or infrastructure engineering roles. Prior LCA activity signals a hiring team that already understands the E-3 process.
Clarify the job title before the LCA is filed
The job title on your LCA and DS-160 must match your offer letter exactly. Senior Database Reliability Engineer is a specialty occupation, but vague titles like 'Senior Engineer' can invite consular scrutiny, so pin down the precise title with your employer early.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to streamline your LCA
The LCA must be certified by the DOL before your visa interview, and errors in the prevailing wage or job duties sections are the most common cause of delays. Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA and visa paperwork from offer acceptance through consulate appointment.
Address remote and hybrid work arrangements in your offer letter
If your role involves any remote work from a location different from the employer's LCA-certified worksite, the employer may need to file an amended LCA. Confirm the primary worksite address before your interview to avoid a 221(g) administrative hold.
Prepare for consular questions about specialty occupation evidence
Consular officers sometimes push back on database reliability engineering as a specialty occupation if the job description reads as general IT support. Bring a brief technical summary showing that your role requires applied database architecture knowledge, not just operational troubleshooting.

Find Senior Database Reliability Engineer JobsSenior Database Reliability Engineer E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find Senior Database Reliability Engineer jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Senior Database Reliability Engineer roles filtered specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sifting through postings from employers who only sponsor H-1B. Roles are tagged by specialty occupation category, which helps you quickly identify positions where the job description already maps to E-3 requirements.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Does a Senior Database Reliability Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the E-3?
Yes, provided the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as computer science, information systems, or database engineering, and the employer's job description reflects that requirement. Roles where any general IT background satisfies the employer's stated requirements can create issues at the consulate, so the offer letter wording matters significantly.
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for Senior Database Reliability Engineer roles?
The E-3 has no lottery and no annual numerical cap, meaning you can apply at any point in the year once you have an offer. The H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with a roughly 25% selection rate for most applicants. For Australian database engineers, the E-3 is a direct path without the uncertainty of a random draw delaying or blocking employment entirely.
Can I switch employers or change database engineering roles while on E-3 status?
You can change employers on E-3 status, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL and you will need to obtain a new E-3 visa stamp before re-entering the U.S., or in some cases apply for a change of status. There is no portability provision equivalent to the H-1B's AC21 rule, so plan your transition timeline to avoid a gap in authorized employment.
