Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding E-3 Visa Sponsorship as a Quantitative
Translate your Australian degree credentials
U.S. consular officers assess whether your Australian degree maps to the role's specialty occupation requirement. A three-year bachelor's in mathematics, statistics, or finance is generally accepted as equivalent to a U.S. four-year degree, but have your transcripts ready to confirm the field of study.
Target firms with active LCA filing history
Focus on employers who have already filed Labor Condition Applications for quantitative analyst or research roles. DOL's public disclosure data shows which firms regularly sponsor these positions, saving you from pitching sponsorship to employers who've never done it.
Clarify the specialty occupation standard early
Not every quant role automatically qualifies. If a job description accepts 'any bachelor's degree,' that weakens the specialty occupation case. Push for a description that specifies a degree in quantitative finance, statistics, mathematics, or a related field before the LCA is filed.
Use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service for LCA and paperwork
Once you have an offer, use Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service to handle your LCA submission with the DOL and prepare your DS-160 and supporting documents. This keeps the process moving without your employer needing an in-house immigration team.
Confirm prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Your employer must certify to the DOL that your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for the role and location. Ask your employer to run a prevailing wage check before you negotiate, so the LCA reflects a compliant rate from the start.
Time your consulate appointment around project cycles
Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth process E-3 applications year-round with no cap constraints, but appointment wait times vary by month. File your LCA as soon as the offer is signed so you have flexibility to book around your current employer's notice period or a role start date.

Find Quantitative JobsQuantitative E-3 Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find quantitative jobs with E-3 visa sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search quantitative roles filtered specifically for E-3 visa sponsorship. Most general job boards don't distinguish between visa types, so you end up cold-pitching sponsorship to employers who aren't set up for it. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where employers are already open to E-3 candidates, which is the fastest path to an offer.
How much does it cost to get an E-3 visa?
Migrate Mate's E-3 filing service covers the entire process for $499, including the Labor Condition Application, visa document preparation, and consulate appointment guidance. Traditional immigration lawyers charge $2,000–$5,000+ for the same work. The E-3 has less paperwork than most work visas, so paying thousands for legal help is usually unnecessary.
Do quantitative analyst roles qualify as specialty occupations under the E-3?
Yes, in most cases. Quantitative analyst, quantitative researcher, and quantitative developer roles routinely qualify because they require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as mathematics, statistics, financial engineering, or computer science. The key is that the job description must specify the field of study, not just 'a degree in a related area.'
How does the E-3 compare to the H-1B for quantitative professionals?
The E-3 is significantly more practical for Australians in quant roles. There's no lottery and no annual cap, so your employer can sponsor you at any point in the year without waiting for an April registration window. The E-3 also has a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been fully used, meaning approval timelines are predictable and driven by consulate scheduling rather than selection odds.
Can I switch quant employers after getting my E-3 visa?
Yes, but the E-3 is employer-specific and role-specific, so each job change requires a new LCA and a new visa. You don't need to leave the U.S. to change employers if you're already on E-3 status, but your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL before your start date. Your current E-3 stamp only covers the original employer and position.
