About EliseAI
At EliseAI, we're improving the industries that matter most: housing and healthcare. Everyone needs a place to live and access to quality healthcare, yet both are often harder to secure than they should be.
By integrating AI agents deeply into existing workflows, we make them more efficient, reduce costs, and improve the experience for everyone.
Housing: We simplify how renters tour apartments, sign leases, submit maintenance requests, and stay connected with their property team—bringing everything they need for their home into one place.
Healthcare: We make it easy to schedule appointments, complete intake forms, and we help patients communicate with providers, so everyone can focus on health instead of paperwork.
With EliseAI, organizations reduce manual work, improve accessibility, and deliver a seamless experience across essential services. We recently raised a $250 million Series E round led by Andreessen Horowitz to accelerate this mission.
About The Role
We’re looking for a Lead Economist to build EliseAI’s economics research and market insights function. You’ll transform our proprietary data into benchmarks and compelling narratives that establish EliseAI as the leading authority on housing. You’ll own the full pipeline from raw data to market-shaping insight and serve as EliseAI’s voice on what the numbers mean.
Key Responsibilities
Establish EliseAI as the leading authority on rental housing through original research and market insights using our proprietary data.
Define and amplify EliseAI’s voice on housing economics across media, industry events, research, and customer channels.
Partner with marketing to create high-impact content that strengthens the brand and engages customers.
Partner with product and data teams to understand product data, build reliable data pipelines, and create scalable reporting.
Expand the reach of EliseAI’s research through partnerships with publications and academic institutions.
Use research and thought leadership to strengthen EliseAI’s employer brand, helping attract exceptional talent across the entire company.
Move at rocket speed, build something massive.
We’re scaling fast, solving real client problems with precision and ambition. Here, you own your impact; full autonomy, no micromanagement, no fluff. We hire the best, expect the best, and give you the masterclass of your career. It’s hard, it’s intense, and it’s the most rewarding work you’ll ever do. If you’re hungry, driven, and ready to build something massive, climb aboard.
Requirements
3+ years of experience in insights, data journalism, analytics, economic research, or strategy & operations with a track record of shipping quantitative work for external audiences
Exceptional data storytelling: you can turn complex findings into sharp narratives
Comfortable presenting findings live to executives, clients, or media
Strong technical skills across the modern data stack (SQL, Python, Hex, etc.)
A genuine curiosity about housing and the data that explains the industry
A quantitative degree or equivalent practical experience
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
Willingness to work in person at our office 4-5 days a week
Why Join
Growth and impact. It’s not often that you can get in on the ground floor of a funded (unicorn!) startup that’s scaling so fast. That means that instead of following a playbook, you’ll be writing it. Every single day you will be challenged to identify how we can scale and execute on it. You’ll learn what works when you succeed and what doesn’t when you fail. Either way, the rest of the team will be here to support you.
Benefits
In addition to the growth and impact you’ll have at EliseAI, we offer competitive salaries along with the following benefits:
Equity in the company
Medical, Dental and Vision premiums covered at 100%
Fully paid parental leave
Commuter benefits
401k benefits
Fitness & home services stipend to cover part of your expenses so you can focus on what matters
A collaborative in-office environment with an open floor plan, fully stocked kitchen, and all meals covered in the office
Unlimited vacation and paid holidays
We'll cover relocation packages and make the move exciting, not painful!
Job Compensation Range
The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $250,000. EliseAI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes base salary, equity, and a comprehensive benefits & perks package. Exact compensation is determined based on a number of factors including experience, skill level, location and qualifications which are assessed during the interview process. Additional details about total compensation and benefits will be provided by our Recruiting Team during the hiring process.

Economist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a economist in New York?
Becoming an economist in New York typically requires at minimum a master's degree in economics, though many research and senior roles at government agencies and financial institutions prefer a doctorate. New York does not issue a state license for economists, so entry depends on education and demonstrated analytical ability. Candidates targeting public-sector roles often apply through New York State civil service examinations administered by the Department of Civil Service, which sets minimum qualifications by grade level.
How much do economists make in New York?
Economists in New York earn a median of about $136,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $82,130 for the lowest 10% to over $292,850 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire economists in New York?
Employers hiring economists in New York right now include STV, Amazon, and JPMorganChase, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's concentration of global financial institutions, federal reserve operations, and state government agencies makes it one of the deepest markets in the country for economists at every level.
Which New York cities have the most economist jobs?
New York account for the most economist openings in New York. New York City drives the volume by a wide margin because of its density of investment banks, asset managers, and federal agencies, while Albany draws demand from state government and policy research organizations, and Buffalo has a growing presence of regional economic development bodies and university research centers.
Are there remote economist jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of economist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how thoroughly the role centers on data analysis, modeling, and writing. Research and policy-focused positions with nonprofits, think tanks, and federal agencies operating in New York are the most consistently remote, while trading-floor and client-facing roles at financial firms tend to require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a economist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a research assistant or junior analyst position, which large New York employers regularly fill with recent graduates. The New York Federal Reserve, the New York City Office of Management and Budget, and the New York State Department of Labor all post entry-level economist or economic analyst roles aimed at candidates without extensive professional experience. A strong quantitative thesis, proficiency in Stata or Python, and exposure to policy or financial data through internships or graduate coursework are the credentials that open those doors.
Where can I find and apply to economist jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to economist jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across New York City, Albany, Buffalo, and other parts of the state. Find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit.
