EHS Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a ehs manager jobs in Houston?
Target Houston's heaviest hiring sectors first: petrochemical refining, upstream and midstream oil and gas, heavy construction, and industrial manufacturing. Jobs concentrate in the Energy Corridor, Greenspoint, and along the Ship Channel. Candidates with process safety management experience, OSHA 30 credentials, and hands-on knowledge of EPA Title V or TCEQ compliance stand out with Houston employers. Networking through the local ASSE chapter also opens doors faster than cold applications.
Which companies hire ehs managers in Houston?
Employers hiring ehs managers in Houston right now include Foxconn Industrial Internet - FII, Hays Electrical Services, and J.S. Held, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's hiring base skews heavily toward energy majors, chemical manufacturers, engineering and construction contractors, and logistics operators tied to the Port of Houston.
Are there remote ehs manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though only for roles focused on documentation, auditing, and compliance management rather than hands-on site work. About 100% of ehs manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the field's predominantly on-site nature. In Houston, remote arrangements appear most often in corporate EHS roles at energy company headquarters rather than plant or field positions.
How can I get a ehs manager jobs in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through an EHS coordinator or safety technician role at a mid-size oil and gas services company or industrial contractor, where hands-on site exposure accelerates credentials quickly. Houston-area community colleges offer OSHA certification programs that Houston employers recognize for entry-level hires. Lateral moves from quality assurance, industrial hygiene, or environmental field technician roles are common stepping stones at the refining and chemical plants concentrated along the Ship Channel.
Which industries hire the most ehs managers in Houston?
The sectors hiring the most ehs managers in Houston are Accounting & Auditing, Electronics & Hardware, and Distribution & Wholesale, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's role as the U.S. energy capital, combined with the dense concentration of petrochemical plants and heavy construction activity along the Gulf Coast, makes those sectors the dominant driver of local EHS hiring.
