Omnisharp develops and supports precision robotic knife-sharpening systems for meat-processing operations. Our technology helps customers improve knife consistency, reduce injury risk, protect yield, and keep a mission-critical process running reliably.
We are seeking a multidisciplinary engineer to sustain an established industrial robot product throughout its operating life. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product support, and field service: diagnosing difficult performance issues, identifying recurring failure patterns, leading corrective-action testing, and converting technical lessons into reliable designs and clear service knowledge. The position is focused on uptime and product reliability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as an engineering escalation point for complex mechanical, electrical, controls, robotics, and system-integration issues that cannot be resolved through standard support procedures.
- Work with internal teams to diagnose faults, identify safe recovery actions, and return equipment to production as quickly as practical.
- Analyze service history, component failures, machine data, and field observations to identify product failure trends, systemic risks, and high-value reliability improvements.
- Lead structured root-cause investigations using evidence, reproducible testing, and disciplined documentation; distinguish symptoms from underlying causes.
- Develop design-change proposals when warranted, including problem definition, risk assessment, expected benefit, test plans, validation criteria, and implementation recommendations.
- Plan and execute bench, machine, and field tests; summarize results and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
- Create and maintain technical reference material, diagnostic procedures, repair guides, troubleshooting trees, service bulletins, and knowledge-base articles.
- Capture product knowledge so recurring problems can be solved faster and safely by the broader support organization.
- Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call engineering escalation schedule.
- Travel to customer facilities when hands-on engineering support is needed; travel is normally less than 15%, with greater travel possible in exceptional circumstances.
Technical Scope:
The successful engineer will be comfortable moving across disciplines and tracing interactions among:
- Mechanical assemblies, tooling, bearings, actuators, pneumatics, guarding, and wear components
- Electrical wiring, sensors, motors, drives, safety devices, control panels, and power distribution
- Industrial robots, PLC/control logic, HMIs, motion systems, machine vision, and industrial communications
- Windows IoT and LabVIEW-based applications at the system-utilization and bug-identification level; software development is not part of this role
- Service procedures, spare parts, machine configuration, maintainability, and field-repair practices
Ideal Candidate:
- Approximately 3–8 years of relevant experience in sustaining engineering, product support engineering, field engineering, reliability engineering, mechatronics, industrial automation, robotics, or a closely related environment.
- A bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, robotics, manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline—or equivalent practical experience demonstrating the required engineering judgment and breadth.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with integrated industrial equipment containing mechanical, electrical, controls, robotics, and computer-based subsystems.
- A disciplined approach to root-cause analysis, failure-trend analysis, test planning, verification, and evidence-based decision-making.
- Ability to read and navigate mechanical CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks or eDrawings; CAD design proficiency is helpful but not required.
- Excellent professional English communication skills, including the ability to write concise, accurate, audience-appropriate technical documentation.
- Demonstrated experience creating technical references, repair procedures, troubleshooting guides, service documentation, or knowledge-base content.
- Calm, practical judgment during urgent escalations and the ability to balance speed, safety, production impact, and long-term reliability.
- Strong collaboration skills and a small-company mindset: willing to work across functions, take ownership, share knowledge, and contribute wherever the product and team need support.

Product Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product engineer in Texas?
Most product engineer roles in Texas require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Texas does not mandate a state license for most product engineering positions in private industry, but engineers who sign off on public-safety designs may pursue licensure through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Employers in aerospace and defense often prefer candidates with a Professional Engineer credential or relevant industry certifications such as a Certified Manufacturing Engineer designation.
Which companies hire product engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring product engineers in Texas right now include Apple, AMD, and Amazon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Texas's concentration of semiconductor fabs, aerospace contractors, and consumer electronics firms means demand is especially consistent in the Austin corridor and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
Which Texas cities have the most product engineer jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Plano account for the largest share of product engineer openings in Texas. Austin leads because of its dense cluster of semiconductor and consumer technology companies, Dallas-Fort Worth draws demand from defense contractors and large corporate engineering centers, and Houston's energy and aerospace industries add a significant base of hardware and systems engineering roles.
Are there remote product engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely software-focused fields, since product engineering often requires hands-on work with prototypes, manufacturing lines, and lab equipment. About 38% of product engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid schedules more prevalent than fully remote. Systems integration, technical documentation, and requirements definition phases tend to be the most remote-compatible parts of the role.
How can I get hired as a product engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a new-graduate or associate product engineer role at a Texas manufacturer or defense contractor. Companies like Texas Instruments and L3Harris run structured rotational and new-graduate engineering programs in Texas that are designed for candidates without professional experience. Building a portfolio of senior capstone or design projects from an ABET-accredited Texas program strengthens an application considerably. Lateral moves from quality engineer, manufacturing engineer, or test engineer roles at Texas facilities are also a recognized route into product engineering.
Where can I find and apply to product engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to product engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employer. No account is needed to search current listings.
