Product Engineer Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product engineer in Pennsylvania?
Most product engineer roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or chemical engineering from an accredited program. Pennsylvania does not require a state license specifically titled 'product engineer,' but roles involving public safety or professional signoff may require a Professional Engineer license issued through the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers. Many employers also value relevant internship experience and, for more advanced positions, a master's degree or industry certifications in quality or manufacturing systems.
Which companies hire product engineers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring product engineers in Pennsylvania right now include Amphenol, Molex, and Nokia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of defense contractors, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and industrial equipment companies means product engineering demand remains broad and consistent across the state.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most product engineer jobs?
The cities with the most product engineer openings in Pennsylvania are Yocumtown, Harrisburg, and Allentown. Philadelphia leads due to its dense cluster of pharmaceutical, biotech, and defense firms, while Pittsburgh's legacy in advanced manufacturing and robotics research drives strong demand, and Allentown's corridor of industrial and chemical manufacturers accounts for significant hiring in the Lehigh Valley region.
Are there remote product engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, but they're rare. Product engineering work typically involves hands-on collaboration with manufacturing lines, lab environments, or physical prototypes, which limits full remote eligibility. About 30% of product engineer openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the role's largely on-site nature. The tasks most amenable to remote work include design documentation, PLM software administration, and project coordination activities.
How can I get hired as a product engineer in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a co-op or internship program, which major Pennsylvania employers such as Siemens, Air Products, and defense contractors in the Philadelphia suburbs actively run for engineering students. New graduates can also target associate or junior product engineer titles, or transition from adjacent roles such as quality technician, manufacturing technician, or CAD drafter. Completing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam to become an Engineer in Training through the Pennsylvania State Registration Board strengthens any application significantly.
Where can I find and apply to product engineer jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to product engineer jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across industries including manufacturing, defense, pharmaceuticals, and industrial technology. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
