WHY DO WE NEED YOU? We're hiring an EHS Specialist! Join our CertainTeed Siding plant in Jackson, MI to help drive safety culture, compliance, training, incident prevention, and continuous improvement in a dynamic plant environment. OSHA experience preferred.
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of a safe, compliant, and incident‑free workplace. This role partners with the EHS Manager and site teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Saint‑Gobain EHS requirements while strengthening the site’s safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Culture, Training & Communication (50%)
- Promote a visible, positive safety culture through active floor presence and employee engagement
- Support Behavior‑Based Safety (BBS), WCM, and 5S initiatives
- Administer training compliance through 4orms and serve as Training Administrator
- Deliver EHS training, including new hire orientation, off‑shift sessions, and annual regulatory/corporate training
- Maintain training records and visitor safety orientations
- Support safety meetings, plant communications, and SHESC initiatives
- Provide EHS guidance to leaders and employees
Compliance & Auditing (20%)
- Support OSHA, MIOSHA, Saint‑Gobain, and site EHS compliance
- Conduct safety audits and inspections (e.g., machine guarding)
- Perform monthly AED, first aid, and CPR inspections
- Support ISA audits and audit readiness
Incident Investigation & Risk Management (20%)
- Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis using 4orms
- Support Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and risk assessments
- Recommend and support proactive risk reduction actions
Records, Reporting & Emergency Preparedness (10%)
- Maintain EHS documentation and systems (NIMS, GAIA, 4orms)
- Support EHS reporting and regulatory submissions
- Assist with emergency preparedness, drills, and equipment readiness

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Management, Business, or a related field is required.
Certifications: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with a focus on safety, environmental health, or industrial hygiene and working with internal and/or external customers in a business environment.
