Entry Level Electrical Drafter Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level electrical drafter job?
Employers hiring entry level electrical drafters look for hands-on familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit, even if it comes from coursework or a personal project rather than paid work. A portfolio that shows schematic layouts, panel schedules, or wiring diagrams gives you a concrete edge. Internship experience, a drafting certificate, or an associate degree in electrical technology are common qualifiers at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level electrical drafters?
Companies hiring entry level electrical drafters right now include GHD, Ksb US, and Artech, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Engineering consultancies, electrical contractors, and utilities tend to hire the most at this level, often bringing in new candidates to support licensed engineers on design and documentation work.
Are there remote entry level electrical drafter jobs?
Yes, though most entry level roles are still on-site so new drafters can work closely with engineers and project teams. About 47% of entry level electrical drafter openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so remote options do exist, particularly at larger engineering firms with established digital workflows and cloud-based CAD environments.
Are these new grad electrical drafter jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior electrical drafter roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or co-op work in place of full-time history, or asks for a portfolio rather than an extensive resume. Look for language like "entry level," "junior," or "no experience required" in the job description.
Which industries hire the most entry level electrical drafters?
Entry Level electrical drafter roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Energy, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because ongoing infrastructure, construction, and manufacturing projects require steady drafting support to move designs from concept to permit-ready documentation.
