GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for providing maintenance services to the entire plant, primarily regarding issues involving electrical, electronic, or automation problems. The Technician's primary responsibility is to breakdowns involving automation and or electrical systems. In addition, the position requires work on scheduled downtime including Preventative Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance. The position also requires advanced troubleshooting of sophisticated automation systems, systems re-design, and new equipment installation. The Technician works as a team member of the Maintenance crew either on Day Turn or Shift Work. The job involves independent work on troubleshooting or repairing electrical/mechanical systems, or working with other members of the maintenance crew on work orders or breakdowns. In addition, the Technician works with Maintenance Engineers and supervisors on work orders and breakdowns and is also required to interact with Operations personnel to determine the functionality of repairs or modifications to existing and new systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs inspections, consults with operations, and checks downtime reports to keep current on any maintenance issues or problems in the Mechanic's assigned areas.

Keeps an up-to-date list of all maintenance issues in the Mechanic's assigned areas.

Works with the Mechanical Maintenance team (Engineer, the Maintenance Group Leader) and outside contractors to get the needed work scheduled and completed as soon as possible, based on the urgency of the work to be done.

Works with the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on projects and upgrades in the Mechanic's assigned areas. This may involve working with the equipment manufacturer or other outside companies.

Works with the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer on making sure all necessary spare parts are stocked for the Mechanic's assigned areas. This may involve working with the equipment manufacturer or other outside companies.

Keeps the Mechanic's assigned areas cleaned and free from accumulated trash or used parts. Schedules housekeeping work as needed.

Repairs or replaces defective or damaged components that affect any mill equipment. This includes identifying the part(s) needed, finding and retrieving the part(s) from Spares and installing the parts needed.

Completes work as assigned on maintenance work orders. These work orders include any type of maintenance work (electrical, mechanical, automation) and are performed either on downtime or while the machine is running.

Fills out any information which needs to be passed on to the rest of maintenance.

Fills out PM Check Sheets where required.

Performs any miscellaneous jobs assigned either verbally or in writing by the Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Engineer or Mill Manager.

Fills in for other Maintenance Technicians as required.

Physical requirements include lifting at least 50 pounds, climbing ladders, twisting, bending, stooping, and working in narrow, confined areas.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
Two year industrial experience and or/technical degree or a field relating to Industrial Automation.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Mobility in plant.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, etc.
The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Visual ability with or without correction.
Communication abilities.

Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.

Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or worn:
a. Safety shoes
b. Safety glasses
c. Hearing protection
d. Hard Hat
Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:
e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
f. Fire Retardant clothing
g. Acid PPE

Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy.

Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines.

Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations.

Maintain a clean and safe work area.
