Mid Level Electrical Project Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level electrical project engineer job?
Position your experience around ownership, not just participation. Highlight projects where you drove decisions, managed scope, or resolved technical problems independently. Employers at this level want engineers who can move work forward without constant direction. Tailor your resume to show depth in a specific area, such as power systems, controls, or distribution design, and quantify your impact where you can.
Which companies hire mid level electrical project engineers?
Companies hiring mid level electrical project engineers right now include DPR Construction, Rosendin Electric, and IES Commercial, Inc. – DBA IES Electrical, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from utilities, engineering and construction firms, industrial manufacturers, and defense contractors, all of which need engineers who can carry projects with limited senior oversight.
Are there remote mid level electrical project engineer jobs?
Yes, though roles vary by type. About 11% of mid level electrical project engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most flexibility found in design-heavy or coordination roles rather than field-based positions. On-site and hybrid arrangements are still common for roles tied to construction, commissioning, or site work.
How do I move up to a mid level electrical project engineer role?
The path typically involves building consistent delivery on progressively larger assignments and demonstrating that you can own a task without step-by-step guidance. Engineers who move up fastest take on cross-functional coordination, document lessons learned, and develop a specialty, whether in electrical design, power systems, or project controls. Measurable results and peer recognition both accelerate the transition.
Which industries hire the most mid level electrical project engineers?
Mid Level electrical project engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they run complex, long-cycle infrastructure and product programs that require engineers who can manage scope and deliver without continuous supervision.
