Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a emergency medicine nurse practitioner in Oklahoma?
To practice as an emergency medicine nurse practitioner in Oklahoma, you must hold an active APRN license issued by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, which requires completing an accredited master's or doctoral nurse practitioner program and passing a national certification exam through ANCC or AANP. Oklahoma also requires a separate application for prescriptive authority and a Controlled Dangerous Substance registration for providers who will prescribe scheduled medications in the emergency setting.
How much do emergency medicine nurse practitioners make in Oklahoma?
Emergency medicine nurse practitioners in Oklahoma earn a median of about $133,390 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $99,490 for the lowest 10% to over $167,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire emergency medicine nurse practitioners in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma emergency medicine nurse practitioner roles are posted by TeamHealth and Mercy and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Large integrated health systems and freestanding emergency center networks in Oklahoma City and Tulsa account for the greatest volume of active openings.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most emergency medicine nurse practitioner jobs?
Oklahoma City, Guthrie, and Marietta lead Oklahoma for emergency medicine nurse practitioner openings. Oklahoma City drives the largest share because of its concentration of major health systems, Level I and Level II trauma centers, and freestanding emergency facilities, while Tulsa's strong hospital market and Lawton's proximity to military medical infrastructure support consistent demand in those metros.
How can I get hired as a emergency medicine nurse practitioner in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to new-graduate APRN transition-to-practice programs offered by large Oklahoma systems such as OU Health and Saint Francis Health System, which provide structured orientation in emergency and urgent care settings. Candidates without emergency-specific NP experience often transition from registered nurse backgrounds in emergency departments, ICUs, or trauma units, as that bedside experience carries weight. Holding current ACLS certification and an Oklahoma APRN license with prescriptive authority before applying gives new graduates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to emergency medicine nurse practitioner jobs in Oklahoma?
