Physical Therapist Assistant Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a physical therapist assistant in Oklahoma?
To become a physical therapist assistant in Oklahoma, you must graduate from a CAPTE-accredited associate degree program, pass the National Physical Therapy Examination for PTAs through FSBPT, and obtain a license from the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision before practicing. Oklahoma requires licensure renewal on a regular cycle with continuing education. Applications and renewal requirements are managed directly through the Board, which oversees all PTA practice in the state.
How much do physical therapist assistants make in Oklahoma?
Physical therapist assistants in Oklahoma earn a median of about $59,480 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $24,960 for the lowest 10% to over $79,860 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire physical therapist assistants in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma physical therapist assistant roles are posted by PAM Health, Reliant Rehabilitation, and HiredFirst and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Oklahoma's mix of large health systems, rural critical access hospitals, and skilled nursing and long-term care networks means openings appear across a wide range of employer types throughout the state.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most physical therapist assistant jobs?
Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Lawton have the most physical therapist assistant openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City anchors demand as the state's largest metro with multiple major health systems and a dense concentration of outpatient clinics and post-acute facilities, while Tulsa's strong hospital network and Lawton's military-adjacent healthcare infrastructure each support consistent hiring in their own right.
Are there remote physical therapist assistant jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, but they're rare. Physical therapist assistant work is inherently hands-on, requiring direct patient contact for exercises, manual techniques, and functional training, so the vast majority of roles are on-site. About 0% of physical therapist assistant openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve documentation review, telehealth consultation support, or care coordination rather than direct treatment.
How can I get hired as a physical therapist assistant in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to new-graduate positions at Oklahoma's large health systems, particularly INTEGRIS Health, OU Health, and Ascension St. John, which regularly bring on new PTAs in skilled nursing and inpatient rehab settings where supervision ratios support onboarding. Candidates coming from roles as physical therapy aides or rehab technicians have a clear advantage because they already understand clinic workflow and patient handling. Having your Oklahoma State Board license in hand before applying, even without clinical hours beyond your fieldwork, is the single credential that moves a new-grad application forward.
Where can I find and apply to physical therapist assistant jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to physical therapist assistant jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oklahoma openings across health systems, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and other settings. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred location, and practice setting, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
