Physical Therapist Assistant Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a physical therapist assistant in Colorado?
You must earn an associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapist assistant program and then apply for licensure through the Colorado Physical Therapy Board. Licensure requires passing the National Physical Therapy Examination for PTAs, administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. Colorado does not participate in the PTA Licensure Compact, so out-of-state candidates must apply for a Colorado license directly through the state board.
How much do physical therapist assistants make in Colorado?
Physical therapist assistants in Colorado earn a median of about $64,810 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,580 for the lowest 10% to over $89,550 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire physical therapist assistants in Colorado?
Companies currently hiring physical therapist assistants in Colorado include Supplied Talent, EmpowerMe Wellness, and Select Physical Therapy, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Colorado's mix of large integrated health systems, outpatient orthopedic groups, and long-term care networks means physical therapist assistant openings appear across a wide range of employer types and settings.
Which Colorado cities have the most physical therapist assistant jobs?
Colorado Springs, Denver, and Pueblo have the most physical therapist assistant openings in Colorado. The Denver metro drives the largest share of listings because it anchors the state's major health systems and rehabilitation networks, while Colorado Springs and Fort Collins reflect strong regional hospital and outpatient clinic growth in those corridors.
Are there remote physical therapist assistant jobs in Colorado?
Yes, but they're rare. Physical therapist assisting is a hands-on clinical role that requires direct patient contact, so fully remote positions are uncommon. About 0% of physical therapist assistant openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and most of those involve administrative, telehealth coordination, or documentation-support components rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a physical therapist assistant in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to new-graduate PTA roles at large Colorado health systems such as UCHealth and Centura Health, both of which post positions that accept recent CAPTE graduates. Working as a physical therapy technician or rehabilitation aide at a Colorado clinic or hospital is a common lateral move that builds practical exposure and puts you in front of hiring supervisors. Having your Colorado Physical Therapy Board license in hand and current BLS certification before you apply gives you a concrete edge over candidates still in the credentialing process.
Where can I find and apply to physical therapist assistant jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to physical therapist assistant jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings from employers across the state. Search the roles available, find the ones that match your credentials and preferred setting, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
