Engineering Manager Jobs in Los Angeles: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a engineering manager job in Los Angeles?
Target the sectors that hire most in Los Angeles: aerospace and defense primes in the South Bay, entertainment technology companies in Burbank and Culver City, and software and fintech firms concentrated in Silicon Beach. Candidates who stand out here typically show experience managing distributed or cross-functional teams and can point to shipping products in a fast-moving consumer or enterprise environment. Networking through local tech meetups and industry events in Playa Vista and downtown also opens doors that cold applications rarely do.
Which companies hire engineering managers in Los Angeles?
Companies currently hiring engineering managers in Los Angeles include Northrop Grumman, Snap, and inversion, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. The local market draws a wide range of employer types, from major aerospace contractors and entertainment studios building out their technology divisions to venture-backed startups scaling product and infrastructure teams.
Are there remote engineering manager jobs in Los Angeles?
Yes, though remote availability varies by sector. About 19% of engineering manager openings tied to Los Angeles are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with fully remote roles more common at software and platform companies than at aerospace or on-site infrastructure teams. In Los Angeles specifically, hybrid arrangements are most frequent among Silicon Beach-based tech employers who still maintain physical offices but offer schedule flexibility.
How can I get a engineering manager job in Los Angeles with little or no experience?
The most realistic path in Los Angeles is moving into the role from a senior individual contributor position at a local startup or mid-size tech company, where the gap between engineer and manager is narrowest. Employers in the entertainment technology and gaming sectors in Burbank and Culver City regularly promote strong technical leads into first-time management roles. Building a record of cross-team coordination and mentorship before applying makes the transition easier to argue in an interview.
Which industries hire the most engineering managers in Los Angeles?
Most engineering manager openings in Los Angeles sit in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Manufacturing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Los Angeles's unique mix of aerospace heritage, a massive entertainment industry investing in technology, and a growing Silicon Beach software cluster means engineering management demand is spread across sectors that few other cities combine in one labor market.
