Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and dedicated Part-Time English Teacher for the remainder of this academic year. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to apply for a full-time teaching position for the 2027-2028 school year. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of middle and upper-elementary language arts, a passion for literature, and a deep commitment to integrating a Christian worldview into daily instruction.
This role focuses on fostering a love for grammar, reading, strengthening writing and critical thinking skills, and nurturing a classroom environment rooted in Christian values and respect.
Duties
- Curriculum & Instruction: Plan and deliver age-appropriate weekly ELA lessons for classes ranging from 4th - 7th grades.
- Skill Development: Introduce and reinforce essential skills, including spelling, reading, writing, penmanship, and grammar.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a productive, organized, and positive learning environment in the classroom where redemptive and restorative discipline is valued.
- Assessment: Evaluate and track student progress, providing timely feedback to students and parents as needed.
Requirements
- Faith & Character: A successful candidate will have an active faith in Jesus Christ, regularly be active in a local Christian church, be willing to sign the school’s Statement of Faith, and model Christian character.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Literature, or a closely related field.
- Certification: ACSI Certification or State teaching licensure (or eligible for either) in Elementary Education, Middle School English, or ELA.
- Experience: Previous classroom teaching or student-teaching experience at the upper-elementary or middle school level (experience in a Christian or private school setting is a plus).
- Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
