Environmental Attorney Jobs in Tallahassee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a environmental attorney job in Tallahassee?
Tallahassee's environmental attorney market is shaped by its identity as Florida's capital city. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and a dense cluster of lobbying and regulatory law firms near the Capitol all hire regularly. Candidates who understand Florida administrative law and have experience with state permitting, rulemaking, or enforcement proceedings have a clear advantage over generalists in this market.
Which companies hire environmental attorneys in Tallahassee?
Tallahassee environmental attorney roles are posted by State of Florida, Sodexo, and Danfoss and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring tends to come from a mix of state agencies, public interest organizations, and boutique regulatory law firms that serve clients navigating Florida's environmental and land-use approval process.
Are there remote environmental attorney jobs in Tallahassee?
Yes, though with limits, environmental law often requires in-person appearances at state agency hearings, site visits, and legislative proceedings, so fully remote roles are less common than in purely transactional fields. About 0% of environmental attorney openings tied to Tallahassee are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with research, compliance writing, and policy analysis work being the most location-flexible parts of the role locally.
How can I get a environmental attorney job in Tallahassee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tallahassee is through a clerkship or internship with a Florida state agency such as the Department of Environmental Protection or the Office of the Attorney General, both headquartered in the Capitol Complex. Environmental advocacy nonprofits based near the Florida Capitol also bring on junior attorneys and law students for policy and litigation support work. Familiarity with Florida Statutes Chapter 403 and the state permitting process helps entry-level candidates stand out immediately.
