This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for an Environmental Engineer to join our Earth & Environment Team in our Shelton, Connecticut office. The selected candidate will support environmental projects and proposal efforts that typically involve site remediation, investigation, environmental due diligence, and environmental permitting projects.
You will be part of a growing organization committed to meeting client objectives and solving complex environmental challenges. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions to some of the world’s most challenging environmental problems.
Your Impact
- Provide technical support for environmental projects involving investigation, remediation, due diligence, and environmental permitting.
- Perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, site investigation and remediation field investigations.
- Design and conduct subsurface investigations, including drilling oversight, geological logging, and environmental media sampling.
- Collect, identify, compile, and evaluate environmental data from air, soil, groundwater, surface water, sludge, and other environmental media.
- Research environmental and hazardous materials databases to evaluate historical property uses and identify potential environmental risks.
- Analyze, validate, interpret, and manage environmental data, supporting the development of remedial action work plans.
- Prepare engineering calculations, cost estimates, figures, tables, charts, and other data visualizations for technical review and client presentation.
- Author and contribute to high-quality technical reports, including field investigation reports and remedial action work plans.
- Maintain quality control standards in accordance with industry best practices.
- Support proposal preparation, business development efforts, and client communications.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical, Civil, or a closely related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience in environmental engineering or a related field.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and environmental sampling.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
- Knowledge of environmental laws, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Ability to coordinate with regulatory agencies and understand permitting requirements.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving ability applied to environmental data analysis.
- Moderate proficiency with technical writing, office and analytical software tools.
- Demonstrated self-leadership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and travel as required by project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional licensure or progress toward professional licensure/certification.
- 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training (29 CFR 1910.120).
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR certification.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $79,300 - $116,200
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
