Environmental Manager Jobs in Tampa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a environmental manager job in Tampa?
Focus your search on Tampa's strongest hiring sectors: port operations, civil construction, utilities, and phosphate-related industries in the greater Tampa Bay area. Candidates who stand out locally bring hands-on compliance experience with Florida Department of Environmental Protection permits, stormwater management, or remediation projects. Networking through the Florida Engineering Society's Tampa Bay chapter and targeting contractors active on infrastructure projects gives you a concrete edge in this market.
Which companies hire environmental managers in Tampa?
Companies currently hiring environmental managers in Tampa include ECS Limited, REPKON USA, and Kleinfelder, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tampa's employer mix leans heavily toward construction and engineering firms, port and maritime operations, utilities, and government contractors serving Hillsborough County and the Tampa Bay region.
Are there remote environmental manager jobs in Tampa?
Yes, though with significant limits: environmental manager roles are often site-dependent, so fully remote positions are uncommon, while hybrid arrangements are more realistic for reporting, compliance documentation, and program oversight work. About 0% of environmental manager openings tied to Tampa are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-side portion of the role. Analytical and regulatory compliance functions are the most likely to offer schedule flexibility in Tampa.
How can I get a environmental manager job in Tampa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Tampa is through environmental technician or field inspector roles with construction firms, engineering consultancies, or Hillsborough County agencies, where you build direct permit and compliance exposure. Tampa's active infrastructure and stormwater improvement projects create consistent demand for junior staff who can grow into management. A degree in environmental science or engineering paired with any FDEP-recognized field experience positions you well for internal promotion at mid-size local firms.
Which industries hire the most environmental managers in Tampa?
Most environmental manager openings in Tampa sit in Technology & Software and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tampa's position as a major port city, combined with its phosphate export history, ongoing coastal development, and large-scale public infrastructure investment, makes those sectors the consistent drivers of local environmental hiring.
