Entry Level Environmental Project Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level environmental project manager job?
Employers hiring at this level look for candidates with relevant coursework in environmental science, engineering, or a related field, combined with internship or field experience. A portfolio showing site assessments, compliance reports, or remediation project support gives you a real edge. Certifications like LEED AP or HAZWOPER, even at the foundational level, signal readiness and help your application stand out against other new graduates.
Which companies hire entry level environmental project managers?
Companies hiring entry level environmental project managers right now include Healthcare Services, Veolia, and AECOM, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers environmental consulting firms, civil engineering companies, utilities, and government contractors, all of which typically bring on junior candidates to support site investigations, regulatory compliance, and remediation projects.
Are there remote entry level environmental project manager jobs?
Yes, though most entry level roles in this field involve some on-site fieldwork. About 11% of entry level environmental project manager openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote work typically covering reporting, data analysis, and permitting tasks rather than site visits. Hybrid schedules are common at larger consulting firms that balance office coordination with field assignments.
Are these new grad environmental project manager jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome recent graduates, candidates with zero to two years of experience, or applicants whose experience comes from internships rather than full-time work. A new grad-friendly posting typically mentions a degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field as the primary requirement, with hands-on experience or a strong academic project treated as a plus rather than a prerequisite.
Which industries hire the most entry level environmental project managers?
Entry Level environmental project manager roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Education, and Government & Public Sector, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive junior hiring because they face ongoing regulatory compliance obligations, infrastructure development, and environmental remediation work that requires trained entry level staff to assist senior project managers in the field and office.
