Entry Level Epidemiologist Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level epidemiologist job?
Entry level epidemiologist employers look for candidates with a relevant graduate degree, hands-on research experience from internships or thesis work, and proficiency in statistical tools like SAS, R, or Stata. Tailoring your application to show data collection and analysis projects gives you a concrete edge. Public health practicum experience, even unpaid, signals readiness for field and surveillance work that many of these roles require from day one.
Which companies hire entry level epidemiologists?
Companies hiring entry level epidemiologists right now include Boston Public Health Commission, City of Nashua, and Carson City, NV, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, the mix typically includes government health agencies, hospital systems, academic medical centers, and research consulting firms that onboard new graduates into structured analytical or surveillance roles.
Are there remote entry level epidemiologist jobs?
Yes, though most entry level openings lean on-site given the field and lab components many roles require. About 18% of entry level epidemiologist openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, concentrated in data analysis, surveillance reporting, and research coordination functions where the core work is desk-based and does not require direct community or clinical contact.
Are these new grad epidemiologist jobs?
Yes, the listings here include new grad, recent graduate, and junior epidemiologist roles alongside other entry level postings. A new grad-friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or practicum hours in place of full-time work history, and treats a strong thesis or capstone project as evidence of field readiness rather than requiring prior professional roles.
Which industries hire the most entry level epidemiologists?
Entry Level epidemiologist roles concentrate in Government & Public Sector, Education, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive the most hiring at this level because they maintain ongoing disease surveillance programs, clinical research pipelines, and public health response teams that need early-career analysts to manage data collection, outbreak investigation support, and reporting functions.
