Entry Level Equine Veterinarian Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level equine veterinarian job?
Employers hiring at the entry level prioritize hands-on clinical experience, so rotations through equine practices, ambulatory work, or large-animal internships during veterinary school carry real weight. A strong letter of recommendation from a supervising veterinarian, demonstrated proficiency in routine procedures like lameness exams and dental floats, and willingness to work on-call or weekend shifts give new candidates a practical edge over applicants with academic credentials alone.
Which companies hire entry level equine veterinarians?
Companies hiring entry level equine veterinarians right now include NVA and PetVet Care Centers, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of private equine practices, large-animal referral hospitals, and equine-focused veterinary groups that regularly bring on new graduates to support senior clinicians.
Are there remote entry level equine veterinarian jobs?
Yes, though most equine veterinarian roles require hands-on patient care and are primarily on-site. About 0% of entry level equine veterinarian openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote work typically limited to telehealth consultations, client communication, or administrative duties rather than direct clinical practice.
Are these new grad equine veterinarian jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior equine veterinarian roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts clinical rotations or internships toward its requirements, or explicitly invites candidates still completing their DVM. New grad openings often pair you with a supervising veterinarian during an onboarding period, making them a strong first step into equine practice.
Which industries hire the most entry level equine veterinarians?
Entry Level equine veterinarian roles concentrate in Animal Care & Pet Services, Consumer Goods, and Healthcare & Medical Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive entry level hiring because they maintain active equine caseloads year-round and rely on new graduates to build out clinical capacity alongside experienced staff.
