A Brief Overview
The Estimator uses computer technology and mathematical skill to prepare an estimation of the amount of material needed for the construction of a home in accordance with Company policies.
What you will do
- Estimate the amount of materials needed for home construction according to company policy and local building code.
- Assist salesmen as needed with customer orders and materials lists.
- Assist in trim take-offs as requested.
- Provide assistance to contractors as needed.
- Train sales representatives in estimating techniques.
- Assist sales staff with blueprint reading and construction procedures.
- Review actual vs. estimated materials on completion of each project.
- Work on sales/ hardware counter as assigned.
- Control expenditures to conform to company budgetary requirements.
Required For All Jobs
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Adhere to Company’s commitment to workplace safety.
- Participate in and complete assigned trainings.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in engineering or related area required.
Experience Qualifications
- 1-3 years construction and building materials related experience required.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read blueprints and other technical materials.
- Ability to interpret building plans in diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to operate networked computer systems and specialized software application programs and to instruct others in effective use of application software.
- Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of measurements and basic math principles.
