We are seeking a Facilities Engineer to oversee and support the infrastructure, utilities, and building systems that keep our foundry operating safely and effectively. This position will manage daily utility operations, troubleshoot facility-related issues, coordinate repairs and inspections, and support or lead capital improvement projects.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background, practical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, and the ability to coordinate projects involving internal departments, contractors, service providers, and regulatory inspections.
What You Will Do
- Support and lead capital improvement projects from planning through implementation.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of facility utilities and building systems.
- Monitor facility systems to verify proper, reliable, and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment, utility, infrastructure, and building-system problems.
- Coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, testing, and required inspections.
- Manage HVAC equipment, plumbing systems, security systems, emergency evacuation systems, fire-protection systems, and facility door systems.
- Maintain mechanical and electronic door-lock and key-control systems.
- Plan and coordinate facility renovations, infrastructure improvements, and building expansions.
- Maintain engineering documentation, equipment records, technical specifications, and facility drawings.
- Review and update P&IDs, electrical single-line diagrams, layouts, and other technical documentation.
- Supervise contractors and outside service providers working on facility projects or systems.
- Maintain service agreements and inspection schedules for applicable systems and equipment.
- Evaluate contractor performance and verify that completed work meets project, quality, safety, and operational requirements.
- Work with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, Safety, and other departments to identify the root causes of recurring problems.
- Develop and implement practical, long-term corrective solutions rather than temporary repairs.
- Analyze utility usage and energy consumption to identify waste, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Recommend and implement projects that reduce energy consumption, control operating costs, and improve system reliability.
- Use the computerized maintenance management system to support maintenance planning, documentation, and equipment history.
- Follow all company safety requirements and promote safe work practices during facility projects and contractor activities.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in engineering technology, facilities engineering, mechanical engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, or a related technical field.
- Engineering, facilities, maintenance, or project experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Technical understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, P&IDs, and electrical single-line diagrams.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project-management skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects, priorities, contractors, and service providers.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and electronic documentation systems.
