Field Engineer Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field engineer in Oklahoma?
Most field engineer roles in Oklahoma require a bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a closely related discipline. Oklahoma does not require a state license for many field engineer positions, but roles involving professional engineering sign-off require licensure through the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Candidates focused on oil and gas or telecom field work typically build their credentials through relevant internships, certifications like API or BICSI, and hands-on site experience.
Which companies hire field engineers in Oklahoma?
Companies currently hiring field engineers in Oklahoma include Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, Crossland Construction Company, and Hatch, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's energy sector, particularly upstream oil and gas and pipeline operations centered around Tulsa and Oklahoma City, drives the largest share of ongoing openings.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most field engineer jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Oklahoma have the most field engineer openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City and Tulsa lead because they serve as headquarters for major energy operators and telecom infrastructure companies, while Enid supports additional upstream oil field activity that draws instrumentation and wellsite engineers to the region.
Are there remote field engineer jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, but they're rare. Field engineering is inherently hands-on, requiring on-site troubleshooting, equipment commissioning, and client-facing work at physical locations. About 36% of field engineer openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to concentrate in technical support, project coordination, or design review functions rather than active fieldwork roles.
How can I get hired as a field engineer in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for field technician or associate field engineer roles at Oklahoma's energy operators and telecom contractors, which often serve as a direct pipeline into field engineering positions. Companies like Devon Energy and regional telecom infrastructure firms regularly bring on graduates through rotational or apprenticeship-style programs. Completing an engineering technology degree from Oklahoma State University or the University of Oklahoma, pairing it with an internship in oil and gas or utilities, and earning an EIT designation through the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure significantly strengthens a candidate's profile.
Where can I find and apply to field engineer jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to field engineer jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Enid, and surrounding areas. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
