Field Operations Supervisor Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field operations supervisor in Vermont?
Most Vermont employers look for candidates who have worked in the field first, typically in trades, utilities, construction, or environmental services, before stepping into a supervisory role. A bachelor's degree in construction management, environmental science, or a related field strengthens your candidacy, though many supervisors advance without one by building years of hands-on experience. Holding an OSHA 30 certification and a valid Vermont commercial or standard driver's license is often expected. Vermont's Agency of Natural Resources and Department of Labor list training programs that can accelerate the path for candidates moving from crew member to supervisor.
Which companies hire field operations supervisors in Vermont?
Companies currently hiring field operations supervisors in Vermont include Beta Technologies, Linde, and Milton Cat, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's mix of utility providers, infrastructure contractors, and state agency operations means field supervisor roles appear consistently across both private and public-sector employers throughout the year.
Which Vermont cities have the most field operations supervisor jobs?
The cities with the most field operations supervisor openings in Vermont are Burlington, Vermont, and South Burlington. Burlington anchors the market as Vermont's largest city, drawing demand from utility, healthcare, and construction employers, while Montpelier concentrates state agency and infrastructure roles and Rutland sees consistent openings tied to energy and manufacturing operations in the southern part of the state.
Are there remote field operations supervisor jobs in Vermont?
Yes, but they're rare. Field operations supervisors in Vermont are typically required on-site to manage crews, respond to conditions, and oversee physical work, which limits remote options significantly. About 33% of field operations supervisor openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to cover scheduling, reporting, and administrative coordination duties rather than active field oversight.
How can I get hired as a field operations supervisor in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing a field technician, crew lead, or operations associate role with a Vermont employer and building direct site experience before pursuing supervisor titles. Green Mountain Power, the Vermont Agency of Transportation, and regional construction contractors regularly hire at the field technician and crew level, giving candidates a foot in the door. Completing an OSHA 30-hour course and obtaining a Vermont commercial driver's license before applying makes candidates meaningfully more competitive. Moving laterally from a project coordinator or field inspector role at a Vermont utility or environmental firm is another common path supervisors use to cross into operations management.
Where can I find and apply to field operations supervisor jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to field operations supervisor jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings across utilities, construction, environmental services, and public works. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to each one that fits.
