Field Service Technician Jobs in Charlotte: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a field service technician job in Charlotte?
The strongest path in Charlotte is targeting the city's dense clusters of medical device companies near University City, the utility and energy contractors operating out of Steele Creek, and the HVAC and industrial equipment firms serving the South End and Cabarrus County manufacturing corridor. Candidates who hold a vendor-specific certification (Siemens, Trane, or similar) and can demonstrate hands-on diagnostic experience stand out in this market. Applying directly through employer career pages and showing familiarity with the Charlotte metro service territory gives you a clear edge.
Which companies hire field service technicians in Charlotte?
Employers hiring field service technicians in Charlotte right now include Okuma America Corporation, IQVIA, and PALFINGER, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charlotte's mix of healthcare systems, energy utilities, and light manufacturing draws a broad range of employers, from national OEMs with regional service hubs to regional contractors serving the greater metro.
Are there remote field service technician jobs in Charlotte?
Yes, but only partially. Field service technician work is predominantly hands-on and site-based by nature, so fully remote roles are rare. About 32% of field service technician openings tied to Charlotte are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those positions tend to be in technical support coordination, remote diagnostics, or dispatch scheduling roles rather than direct equipment servicing.
How can I get a field service technician job in Charlotte with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point in Charlotte is pursuing an apprenticeship or helper role with one of the HVAC or electrical contractors serving the Steele Creek and Cabarrus County industrial zones, where employers regularly hire trainees and promote from within. Community colleges in the Charlotte metro also offer associate programs in electronics and mechatronics that connect directly to local employer pipelines. Starting as a parts runner, installation assistant, or bench technician at a medical equipment dealer near University City is another common lateral move that leads to full field assignments.
Which industries hire the most field service technicians in Charlotte?
Charlotte field service technician roles concentrate in Manufacturing and Electronics & Hardware, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charlotte's position as a regional hub for healthcare systems, energy infrastructure, and expanding light manufacturing means consistent demand for technicians who can service equipment across all three sectors.
