Finance Administrator Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance administrator in Texas?
Most Texas employers require a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration as the minimum entry point. While Texas does not issue a state license specifically for finance administrators, candidates who hold a Certified Public Accountant designation issued through the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy or a Certified Management Accountant credential are consistently preferred for senior roles. Building experience in accounts payable, payroll, or financial reporting strengthens your candidacy significantly.
Which companies hire finance administrators in Texas?
Employers hiring finance administrators in Texas right now include CHRISTUS Health, Houston Methodist, and UT Southwestern Medical Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of corporate headquarters, large healthcare systems, and energy companies means sustained hiring across a broad range of industries and organization sizes.
Which Texas cities have the most finance administrator jobs?
Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio have the most finance administrator openings in Texas. Houston's dominance is driven by its energy sector headquarters and large medical center employers, Dallas draws volume from its dense concentration of corporate regional offices and financial services firms, and Austin's rapid tech and government sector growth has steadily expanded its share of administrative finance roles.
Are there remote finance administrator jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they are more common than in many other fields, since finance administration is largely desk-based and document-driven work. About 22% of finance administrator openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the office-compatible nature of the role. Financial reporting, budget preparation, and accounts reconciliation tasks are the functions most frequently performed fully remote, while roles involving cash handling, vendor relations, or on-site audits tend to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a finance administrator in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for accounts payable clerk, billing coordinator, or administrative assistant roles at large Texas employers such as hospital systems in the Texas Medical Center, state agency offices in Austin, or regional bank branches in Dallas and Houston. Many of these organizations run rotational or associate programs that move candidates into administrator-level work within one to two years. Earning an entry-level credential such as the Certified Bookkeeper designation or completing an associate degree in accounting from a Texas community college gives your application a concrete edge over other candidates without direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to finance administrator jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to finance administrator jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring for this role. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to each one.
