Anytime Fitness Kensington is looking for a motivated, outgoing fitness professional who loves coaching people and is interested in learning more about the business side of the fitness industry.
This is a hybrid role combining Small Group Training, Team Training, fitness consultations, member engagement, and club operations.
We are looking for someone who is excited about coaching groups and helping grow our training community, not simply building a traditional book of 1-on-1 personal training clients.
A major focus of this position will be conducting fitness consultations with new and existing members, understanding their goals, and helping connect them with the right coaching option. Our goal is to continue expanding our Small Group and Team Training programs and create an environment where more members have access to coaching, accountability, and community.
At the same time, we want this person to learn how the entire club operates. You will gain experience with membership sales, member service, club operations, marketing, retention, and the day-to-day business of running a fitness facility.
For the right person, there is significant opportunity for the role and responsibilities to grow over time.
What You'll Do:
Coach & Grow Our Training Programs
- Coach Small Group Training sessions.
- Coach larger Team Training classes.

- Follow up with prospective training clients.
- Become comfortable explaining the value of coaching and helping members take the next step.

You will have the opportunity to learn and assist with:
- Membership sales and club tours.
- New member registration and onboarding.
- Lead and prospect follow-up.
- Member service and retention.
- Scheduling appointments and fitness consultations.
- Basic membership and account questions.

- Is comfortable working with people of different ages, abilities, and fitness levels.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Is dependable, organized, and professional.
- Is willing to help with both coaching and club operations.
- Is interested in learning how a successful fitness business works.
- Wants an opportunity to grow rather than simply picking up a few personal training sessions.
Previous experience in personal training, Small Group Training, group fitness, athletics, strength and conditioning, or a similar field is preferred.
A nationally recognized personal training certification is preferred. Candidates actively working toward certification may also be considered depending on experience.
CPR/AED certification is required or must be obtained.

Fitness Coach Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a fitness coach in Maryland?
Maryland does not issue a state license specific to fitness coaches, so the path to employment runs through nationally recognized certifications that Maryland employers consistently require. Most hiring managers expect a certification from NASM, ACE, ACSM, or NSCA, each of which requires passing a proctored exam and holding a current CPR credential. A bachelor's degree in kinesiology, exercise science, or a related field strengthens competitiveness, particularly for roles at hospital wellness centers and university programs.
Which companies hire fitness coachs in Maryland?
Employers hiring fitness coachs in Maryland right now include Y in Central Maryland, Primedy Health, and Anytime Fitness, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maryland's mix of hospital systems, military installations, and corporate campuses means openings appear across a wider range of employer types than in most states.
Which Maryland cities have the most fitness coach jobs?
Arnold, Kensington, and Mount Airy account for the largest share of fitness coach openings in Maryland. Baltimore anchors demand through its hospital networks, university athletic programs, and dense residential gym market, while the D.C.-adjacent suburbs of Bethesda, Rockville, and Silver Spring generate volume through corporate wellness centers and high-income residential communities that support premium personal training.
Are there remote fitness coach jobs in Maryland?
Yes, but they're rare. About 50% of fitness coach openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how hands-on the role is by nature. The portions of the work most suited to remote delivery are online programming, virtual one-on-one coaching sessions, and nutrition or lifestyle consultations that do not require in-person movement assessment.
How can I get hired as a fitness coach in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a group fitness instructor or fitness floor attendant role, which large Maryland facilities use as a pipeline into personal training. The YMCA of Central Maryland and Life Time locations in the Baltimore and Montgomery County areas regularly hire candidates who are newly certified and provide on-the-job mentorship toward full coaching responsibilities. Earning a NASM or ACE certification before applying, even without paid experience, clears the baseline requirement at most facilities and signals readiness to hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to fitness coach jobs in Maryland?
You can find and apply to fitness coach jobs in Maryland on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from Maryland employers. Search the listings, find roles that match your certifications and preferred location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
