Founded by games industry veterans, Rushdown was created with a simple philosophy in mind: We believe that when talented developers are consistently challenged and given clear ownership of their work, extraordinary things will happen. As a co-dev game studio, we now focus on solving some of the most difficult problems that face multiplayer games — and we bring our experience working on games like PUBG, League of Legends, and Rocket League with us. We truly love the work we do and we want to funnel our passion and expertise into features and games that billions of players will enjoy worldwide.
Our Role
Rushdown Studios is looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join us in support of our partner studio! In this role, you'll work to build out game backends and encounter a variety of unique technical challenges.
Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated and demonstrated team player with the ability to juggle and jump between different tasks as necessary. Game development experience is preferred due to the nature of this project, but it's not mandatory; we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all of the requirements listed below!
Work Location: Rushdown Studios is based in Saratoga Springs, NY and we have a strong preference for local candidates willing to work from our office on a hybrid basis (i.e., Tuesday-Thursday) or fully remote candidates in the Eastern United States. However, we're always open to expanding our list of remote-eligible states for the right candidate, as well.
Disclaimer: Please note that this is not a gameplay engineering role.

- Ability to dive into a game engine to complete a task.
- Proficiency with scalable non-relational database solutions (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis).
- Willingness to selflessly put player experiences first — before even your own code and ego.
- Ability to comfortably navigate and integrate with one or more cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proactive approach to communication, particularly when it comes to unblocking yourself and navigating obstacles as part of a team.
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with game server scaling and orchestration frameworks.
- Experience with message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, Amazon SQS).
- Experience with PlayFab, Epic Online Services, or other popular backend game services.

Mid Level Golang Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level golang engineer job?
Position yourself around ownership, not just contribution. Highlight projects where you designed a solution, saw it through production, and handled the follow-on work. Emphasize familiarity with Go-specific patterns like goroutines, channels, and interface design, and show you can operate with limited oversight. Applications that demonstrate measurable impact on system reliability, performance, or team velocity tend to stand out at this level.
Which companies hire mid level golang engineers?
Companies hiring mid level golang engineers right now include Apple, LeverX, and Comcast, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers fast-growing technology firms, fintech companies, and infrastructure-focused organizations that rely on Go for backend services and distributed systems.
Are there remote mid level golang engineer jobs?
Yes, remote opportunities are well represented at this level. About 17% of mid level golang engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting strong employer demand for experienced Go engineers regardless of location. Many teams hiring at this level prioritize async communication skills and self-directed work, which aligns well with distributed engineering environments.
How do I move up to a mid level golang engineer role?
The move from junior to mid level is built on demonstrated ownership over time. Focus on deepening Go proficiency beyond syntax: concurrency patterns, testing strategies, and performance tuning. Take on projects where you own the full lifecycle from design to deployment, gather feedback, and iterate. Consistent delivery, the ability to unblock yourself, and measurable contributions to system quality are the clearest signals that you are ready for mid level scope.
Which industries hire the most mid level golang engineers?
Mid Level golang engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Electronics & Hardware, and Banking & Financial Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors rely heavily on high-throughput backend systems and cloud-native infrastructure where Go's performance and concurrency model make it a natural fit for teams scaling their platforms.
