Accounting Associate Green Card Jobs
Accounting Associate roles qualify for EB-3 sponsorship as skilled professional positions, and many employers file PERM labor certifications for candidates with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Understanding where your credentials fit within EB-2 versus EB-3 pathways helps you target sponsorship-ready employers more precisely.

Research prevailing wage before salary negotiations
PERM requires your offered salary to meet DOL prevailing wage levels for the specific job location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the Level I through Level IV wage for Accounting Associate roles in your target city before any offer conversation.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Accounting Associates at mid-size and large companies in manufacturing, healthcare, and professional services sectors file PERM regularly. Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers with verified green card sponsorship history for accounting roles specifically.
Confirm the job description matches PERM requirements
PERM filings require the employer to document a specific minimum requirement for the role. If a job posting lists only a bachelor's degree as preferred rather than required, that ambiguity can create issues during the DOL audit stage.
Ask about priority date policy during the offer stage
EB-3 for most countries outside India and China has no meaningful backlog, so priority date matters less. Ask your prospective employer directly whether they file I-140 concurrently with PERM approval or wait, since that gap affects your timeline to adjustment of status.
Verify credential equivalency if your degree is foreign
USCIS evaluates foreign accounting degrees against U.S. bachelor's degree standards during I-140 adjudication. A credential evaluation from a USCIS-recognized agency that maps your degree to a U.S. accounting bachelor's prevents avoidable Requests for Evidence.

Find Accounting Associate JobsAccounting Associate Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Accounting Associate role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Accounting Associate positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled professional roles requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. EB-2 applies if the employer can document that the position genuinely requires an advanced degree, or if you qualify for a National Interest Waiver, which is uncommon for standard associate-level accounting roles.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for accounting roles?
H-1B sponsorship is temporary, capped at 85,000 per year, and subject to a lottery. EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM has no annual cap for most nationalities, leads to permanent residency, and doesn't depend on a random selection process. The tradeoff is time: PERM and I-140 adjudication typically add 12 to 24 months before you can file for adjustment of status.
What does the PERM process look like for an Accounting Associate position?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL to certify that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role at the prevailing wage. This involves a mandatory recruitment period, posting the job publicly, and documenting all applicants. After certification, the employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS, and you file for adjustment of status once your priority date is current.
How can I find Accounting Associate jobs where employers already sponsor green cards?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for Accounting Associate roles at employers with verified PERM filing history. This filters out the majority of postings where sponsorship is unlikely and focuses your applications on companies that have successfully sponsored accounting professionals for employment-based green cards before.
Can a foreign accounting degree satisfy PERM and I-140 requirements?
Yes, provided a credential evaluation confirms it's equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. USCIS accepts evaluations from recognized agencies. If your degree is in a different discipline but you have substantial accounting experience, the O*NET profile for this occupation and DOL guidance on equivalent experience may support your case, though employer documentation is key.
