Green Card Certified Public Accountant Jobs
Certified Public Accountant roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires employers to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available. CPA positions consistently meet the specialty occupation and advanced-degree criteria that support permanent residency sponsorship at both preference levels.

About the Team
The Financial Operations (FinOps) team at Nomad powers the core of our business: guaranteed owner payments. FinOps works closely with customer success, sales, engineering, product, and other teams across the org to deliver our mission of unlocking economic opportunity for everyone in the long-term rental community. As our company grows and changes, so do our procedures. As part of this team, you'll partner with our Finance Operations team to develop those processes and witness the real-time impact they have on Nomad.
About the Role
We're looking for a Bookkeeping Operations Specialist who's excited to support Nomad's day-to-day operational accounting and who gets energized, not rattled, when processes change. Our systems, workflows, and priorities evolve constantly as we grow, and we need someone who can hold real accounting fundamentals in one hand and genuine comfort with ambiguity in the other. If you've only ever worked in one system, one process, one way of doing things, this probably isn't your role. But if you're a person with a desire for an unconventional path in accounting, who picks up new tools fast, and who'd rather build the process than just follow it, we want to talk to you!
In the Role, You'll
- Conduct day-to-day bookkeeping in AppFolio, including rent advances, check processing, and security deposit returns
- Handle internal accounting requests (issuing concessions, refunding tenants, etc.)
- Respond to owner and tenant accounting inquiries
- Assist with move-outs, delinquencies, owner payments, and bank reconciliations
- Use reports to investigate financial discrepancies
- Improve bookkeeping accuracy and help evolve our processes as we scale
Who You Are
Experience: We care more about what you can actually do than how many years you've clocked. That could look like a couple of years of hands-on small-business or freelance bookkeeping, a longer stretch of customer-facing work paired with self-taught accounting skills, or something in between.
Required skills:
- General accounting/bookkeeping literacy
- High attention to detail, particularly as it relates to numbers
- Nimbleness: genuine comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities
- Critical thinking to problem-solve operational issues and evolve processes
- An ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests in a fast-paced environment
- A deep curiosity to ask questions, learn new things, and be open to feedback
- Comfortable using AI and other resources to research answers and self-direct
Some software experience that would be a plus:
- Property management software (AppFolio, Buildium, Yardi, etc.)
- AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.)
- GSuite software (specifically Google Sheets)
- Accounting or bookkeeping software (QuickBooks, BILL, Stripe, etc.)
- CRM experience (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)
Bonus prior work experience:
- Start-up environment experience
- Property management experience
- Customer service experience
- Bookkeeper, Collections Specialist, Associate Banker, or similar
Where You'll Be
This is a hybrid position and you would need to come to our downtown Denver office 3 times a week, or more if you like! We are surrounded by other tech companies, coffee shops, breweries, and restaurants.
Potential pay range: $28 – $36 / hour
Our Values:
- Nomads Build Community: We foster genuine relationships and act as dependable stewards of our community.
- One Percent Better Every Day: We are always learning, taking small, deliberate actions to continuously improve.
- Mission Before Ourselves: We’re a championship team driven to make our customers’ lives better.
- Act From Ownership: We roll up our sleeves, solve problems proactively, and take responsibility for our work.
- Dream Without Boundaries: We challenge the status quo and strive to achieve the extraordinary.
Benefits at Nomad
We believe in supporting our team with benefits that enhance your life, both inside and outside of work.
- Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Plans: Comprehensive coverage to keep you and your family healthy.
- Team Bonding Outings and Volunteer Days: Opportunities to connect and give back to the community.
- Dog-Friendly Office: Because we know pets are family too!
- Paid Company Holidays
- Company Equity: Become a part owner of Nomad and share in our success.
- Short-Term & Long-Term Disability: Supporting you when life throws curveballs.
- MacBook: Plus, an equipment budget to set you up for success.
- Sick, Parental, and Generous Paid Time Off: Work-life balance matters to us.
- Anniversary Rewards: Celebrate milestones with rewards ranging from paid yearly events to a 4-week sabbatical.
- Discounted Employee Brokerage Rates: Helping you buy or sell a home with ease.
Compensation Transparency
At Nomad, we are committed to offering competitive compensation that reflects the value each team member brings to our mission. Salary ranges for this role are determined based on factors such as experience, skills, location, and role expectations. Final offers may vary from the posted range, ensuring fair and equitable consideration for every candidate.

Verify your CPA license transfers across states
Each state board sets its own CPA licensing requirements, and some employers require an active license in their state before filing PERM. Confirm reciprocity rules early so a credential gap doesn't stall your petition after an offer.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Public accounting firms, multinational corporations, and financial services companies file PERM petitions regularly for foreign CPAs. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by green card sponsorship history so you're applying where permanent sponsorship is already an established practice.
Distinguish EB-2 from EB-3 before your employer files
EB-2 requires an advanced degree or its equivalent, while EB-3 covers professionals with a standard bachelor's degree. Your employer's attorney will classify your CPA role at filing, and the category determines your priority date and wait time, so align on this before PERM begins.
Benchmark your salary against the OFLC Wage Search
PERM requires your offered wage to meet the prevailing wage level DOL certifies for your CPA job title and location. Check the OFLC Wage Search using the correct Standard Occupational Classification code for accountants before negotiating your offer to avoid a wage deficiency that forces an amended petition.
Gather foreign credential evaluations before PERM starts
If your accounting degree was earned outside the U.S., your employer's PERM documentation must include a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization. Arrange this before your employer begins the mandatory recruitment period, since DOL audit requests can surface months after filing.
Ask about concurrent I-140 and I-485 filing eligibility
Once USCIS approves your I-140 immigrant petition, you may be able to file I-485 adjustment of status at the same time if a visa number is immediately available. For EB-3 applicants from most countries, this concurrent filing path can meaningfully shorten your total wait to a green card.
Green Card Certified Public Accountant: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a CPA role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
CPA positions can qualify at both levels. EB-2 applies when the role requires a master's degree or equivalent, or when you hold a U.S. CPA license combined with substantial experience that meets the advanced-degree standard. EB-3 covers positions requiring a standard four-year bachelor's degree in accounting. Your employer's immigration counsel determines which category fits the job description and your credentials before filing the PERM application with DOL.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for CPAs?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa with a three-year initial period and requires navigating an annual lottery for most applicants. PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency and has no lottery. At the EB-3 level, many nationalities face a priority date backlog, but once your I-140 is approved, your place in line is secured even if you change employers under AC21 portability rules after 180 days.
How long does the full PERM-to-green-card process take for a CPA?
The PERM labor certification stage alone typically runs six to twelve months at DOL, not counting any audit. After DOL certification, USCIS reviews the I-140 immigrant petition, which can take several additional months without premium processing. For applicants from countries with backlogged priority dates, the total timeline from PERM filing to a green card can extend several years. Applicants from most countries outside China and India often move through the queue faster.
What documentation should I prepare before my employer starts the PERM process?
Gather official transcripts, a foreign credential evaluation if your degree was earned outside the U.S., copies of your CPA license from any state where you hold active licensure, and detailed employment records showing dates, titles, and duties for any experience years your employer plans to claim. DOL audits often request this documentation, and delays in producing it can extend certification timelines significantly.
Where can I find CPA jobs that already offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search CPA roles specifically filtered by employment-based green card sponsorship, so you're not guessing which employers are open to PERM. Focusing your search this way saves significant time, since many accounting postings don't advertise sponsorship explicitly even when the employer has a documented history of filing PERM petitions for foreign accounting professionals.
