Green Card Health Actuary Jobs
Health Actuary roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role. Actuarial science credentials, SOA or CAS fellowship status, and employer demand make sponsorship achievable for foreign candidates in this field.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Health Actuary
Verify your credentials meet EB-2 requirements
EB-2 eligibility for health actuaries typically turns on an advanced degree or a bachelor's degree plus progressive actuarial experience. SOA fellowship or associateship status often strengthens an advanced-degree petition when paired with a master's in actuarial science or a related quantitative field.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Insurance carriers, large health systems, and consulting firms with dedicated actuarial practices file PERM applications regularly. Use Migrate Mate to filter Health Actuary roles by employers who have sponsored green cards before, so you're not educating a hiring team on the process from scratch.
Understand how prevailing wage shapes your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location before filing an LCA. Check the OFLC Wage Search for current Level II and Level III rates in your target metro before negotiating your offer letter.
Distinguish EB-3 from H-1B when talking to employers
PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status. Frame this for hesitant hiring managers as a one-time investment in a long-term hire, not a recurring annual filing risk.
Get your actuarial exam transcripts translated and certified
USCIS requires official documentation of all credentials used in an I-140 petition. SOA and CAS exam records issued outside the U.S. need certified translation and, in some cases, a foreign credential evaluation before your employer's immigration attorney can include them.
Time your job search around PERM recruitment obligations
PERM requires your employer to complete DOL-mandated recruitment steps before filing, which typically takes 60 to 90 days after an offer is extended. Accepting a role without confirming your employer is ready to begin PERM immediately can push your green card timeline back by months.
Green Card Health Actuary: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Health Actuary role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Health Actuary positions qualify for both EB-2 and EB-3 depending on the employer's stated job requirements. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics. EB-3 covers positions requiring a bachelor's degree. Employers who list associateship or fellowship credentials as a requirement can strengthen an EB-2 filing, but the degree requirement in the job description ultimately determines the category.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency rather than a two- or three-year renewable status. There's no annual lottery at the EB-2 or EB-3 level for most nationalities, which eliminates the registration uncertainty that comes with H-1B visa. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and adjustment of status can take two to four years total, compared to H-1B cap-subject processing measured in months.
Which employers commonly sponsor Health Actuaries for green cards?
Health insurance carriers, managed care organizations, actuarial consulting firms, and large hospital systems are the most consistent sponsors. These employers maintain dedicated immigration programs and file PERM applications on a repeating cycle. Searching by employers with documented PERM filing history, rather than by job title alone, is the most reliable way to find roles where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
How can I find Health Actuary jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Health Actuary roles where employers have a green card sponsorship history, so you're not spending time applying to positions that require you to initiate the conversation about PERM from zero. Filtering by sponsorship track record early in your search reduces how often you reach final-round interviews only to learn the employer won't sponsor.
Can fellowship status with SOA or CAS substitute for an advanced degree in an EB-2 petition?
USCIS does not treat professional fellowship status as a direct substitute for an advanced degree unless the employer's job requirements and the I-140 petition are structured to reflect the equivalency. Some employers have successfully argued that an SOA fellowship combined with a bachelor's degree and substantial progressive experience meets the EB-2 advanced-degree equivalency standard, but this requires careful documentation and an employer willing to build that case in the petition.
