Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Cost Accountant
Match your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM requires the employer to define minimum qualifications before filing. Confirm your degree, CPA status, or cost accounting certifications align with what the employer will certify to DOL, since discrepancies can trigger audits.
Target industries with high PERM filing rates
Manufacturing, healthcare systems, and engineering firms file PERM for Cost Accountants far more frequently than retail or hospitality. Focus your search on companies in these sectors where sponsorship is a recurring practice, not a one-off exception.
Search sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Cost Accountant roles by employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you're applying where PERM processes are already established rather than asking employers to start from scratch.
Understand the prevailing wage before negotiating
DOL sets the prevailing wage for your specific role and location through the OFLC Wage Search. Your offered salary must meet or exceed this figure, so review wage levels before entering any offer negotiation to avoid delays at the LCA stage.
Ask employers about their PERM audit history
DOL audits a significant percentage of PERM applications. Employers who have navigated audits before typically have documented business necessity statements and established HR processes, making your sponsorship less likely to stall mid-filing.

Find Cost Accountant JobsCost Accountant Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Cost Accountant role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Cost Accountant positions typically qualify for EB-3 sponsorship as skilled professionals, since the role standardly requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. If you hold an advanced degree such as a master's in accounting or an MBA with a concentration in finance, your employer may be able to sponsor you under EB-2, which has a slightly shorter adjudication path for some countries.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Cost Accountants?
Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status. There's no annual lottery, and EB-3 has no cap concerns for most countries outside India and China. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification alone can take six to eighteen months before the I-140 is even filed, compared to an H-1B approval that can arrive in weeks with premium processing.
What does the PERM process look like for a Cost Accountant position?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL after completing a supervised recruitment campaign to show no qualified U.S. worker was available for the role. DOL reviews the application and, if certified, the employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS on your behalf. Once the I-140 is approved and your priority date is current, you can file for adjustment of status or apply at a consulate abroad.
How do I find Cost Accountant jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Cost Accountant openings by employers with verified green card sponsorship history, so you can focus on companies that have already completed PERM filings rather than cold-pitching sponsorship to employers who've never done it. Established sponsoring employers also tend to have immigration counsel in place, which accelerates the filing process once you accept an offer.
Can I change jobs after my PERM is filed but before I get my green card?
You can change employers after PERM is certified, but it restarts the process because PERM is tied to a specific employer and job description. Once your I-140 is approved and you've been in adjustment of status for 180 days, portability under AC21 allows you to move to a same or similar role without losing your priority date, as long as the new position is substantially similar in duties and requirements.
