Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Finance Business Partner
Document your degree equivalency before applying
PERM requires your employer to certify your credentials match the role's stated minimum requirements. If your finance degree is from a non-U.S. university, get a credential evaluation completed before your employer drafts the job description, not after.
Target companies with active PERM filing history
Large multinationals and Fortune 500 firms with established FP&A or finance business partnering functions file PERM regularly. Use Migrate Mate to filter Finance Business Partner roles specifically by green card sponsorship history rather than screening hundreds of generic job listings.
Distinguish EB-2 versus EB-3 with your prospective employer
If the role requires an MBA or equivalent advanced degree, EB-2 may be available and typically has shorter priority date backlogs for many nationalities. Clarify with your employer's immigration counsel which category they intend to file under before you accept an offer.
Verify prevailing wage before the PERM job description is drafted
DOL sets prevailing wages by job zone and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your specific metro area, since Finance Business Partner roles often span Levels II through IV depending on supervisory scope and business unit ownership.
Understand PERM audit risk tied to your job duties
Finance Business Partner postings sometimes list both strategic and operational duties, which can trigger DOL audit scrutiny if the combination looks inconsistent. Ask your employer to align the PERM job description closely with your actual day-to-day responsibilities before filing.
Ask about priority date portability during your offer negotiation
If you're changing employers mid-PERM process or after I-140 approval, portability under AC21 can preserve your priority date. Confirm whether your new employer's role is in a substantially similar SOC occupation code, which O*NET classifies for Financial Analysts and Management Analysts.

Find Finance Business Partner JobsFinance Business Partner Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Finance Business Partner role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Finance Business Partner positions typically qualify under both categories. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree such as an MBA or a bachelor's degree plus at least five years of progressive finance experience. EB-3 covers roles with a standard bachelor's degree requirement. Your employer's immigration counsel will specify which category matches the job description they intend to file under PERM.
How does the green card PERM process differ from H-1B sponsorship for finance professionals?
Unlike H-1B, PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status. The PERM labor certification requires your employer to conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment process before filing, which typically adds six to twelve months to the overall timeline. Once your I-140 is approved, your priority date is locked regardless of employer changes, provided AC21 portability conditions are met.
How do I find Finance Business Partner roles where employers actively sponsor green cards?
Most job postings don't advertise PERM sponsorship explicitly, which makes filtering difficult on general job boards. Migrate Mate surfaces Finance Business Partner roles specifically by green card sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on employers who have filed PERM for comparable finance roles rather than asking about sponsorship cold during a first-round interview.
What prevailing wage level applies to Finance Business Partner roles under PERM?
Prevailing wage levels for Finance Business Partner positions depend on job duties, geographic location, and the DOL wage determination issued for your specific SOC code. Roles with business unit ownership and cross-functional decision-making authority often fall at Level III or IV. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the applicable wage for your metro area before your employer submits the Prevailing Wage Determination request to DOL.
Can I switch employers while my Finance Business Partner green card is in process?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules you can change employers after your I-140 has been approved for 180 days, provided the new role is in a substantially similar occupation. Finance Business Partner roles generally map to Financial Analyst or Management Analyst SOC codes, and USCIS applies a practical similarity test rather than requiring an identical job title. Your priority date carries over to your new employer's petition.
