CAE Engineer Green Card Jobs
CAE Engineer roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship when employers file a PERM labor certification confirming no qualified U.S. workers are available. Simulation and finite element analysis specialists with a bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering can pursue permanent residency through this employer-sponsored pathway.

INTRODUCTION
In this position, you will use CAE tools to drive solutions for Vehicle Hardware Closures/ Structures/ Chassis system components. You will ensure these components meet all government and Rivian internal durability requirements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to find optimal solutions that satisfy all Structure system requirements and company goals. This is a fully onsite role based at our engineering Headquarters in Irvine California.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Lead subsystem level Durability CAE analysis of Rivian’s vehicles by developing and executing analysis plans with a focus on Strength and Fatigue of Closures, Body Structure Recovery Zones, Accessory Mounting Zones, Trailer Hitch, Subframes, Knuckles, & Suspension link systems. This involves leading 1-2 concurrent CAE-intensive projects with small cross-functional teams, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality subsystem simulation results and their effective utilization in a fast paced program cycle while supporting optimal resource utilization.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a CAE Engineer
Document your simulation software credentials early
Gather certifications for tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran before applying. PERM requires your employer to verify your qualifications match the job requirements exactly, so mismatches between your credentials and the posted role can stall or derail the labor certification.
Target aerospace and automotive OEM employers specifically
Large original equipment manufacturers in aerospace and automotive have established PERM pipelines and in-house immigration counsel. Smaller engineering consultancies often lack the infrastructure to sponsor green cards, so filtering your search by employer type saves months of dead-end conversations.
Search verified green card sponsors using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter CAE Engineer openings by employers with active EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history. Targeting companies that have already filed PERM for similar roles cuts prospecting time and surfaces opportunities where sponsorship is a realistic expectation, not a long shot.
Understand how EB-3 avoids H-1B cap pressure
Unlike H-1B, EB-3 sponsorship has no annual lottery. Your employer files PERM with DOL, then an I-140 with USCIS, and your place in the permanent residency queue is secured without competing in a randomized selection round. For most countries, EB-3 priority dates move predictably.
Request a prevailing wage audit before offer negotiations
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location before salary discussions. Your employer must pay at least the DOL-certified prevailing wage once PERM is filed, so knowing this number protects you from offers that will fail at the labor certification stage.
Align your job description with your O*NET occupation profile
Pull the O*NET profile for CAE Engineer or the closest matching occupation and compare it to your job offer letter. PERM filings get audited when the stated duties deviate significantly from standard occupation definitions, and close alignment reduces the risk of a DOL audit delaying your case.

Find CAE Engineer JobsCAE Engineer Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a CAE Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
CAE Engineer positions typically qualify for EB-3 as a skilled worker requiring a bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline. If your role requires an advanced degree or your employer can document equivalent specialized expertise, EB-2 may apply. Your employer's immigration counsel determines the appropriate category when preparing the PERM filing.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for CAE Engineers?
H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status capped at 85,000 selections per year, awarded by lottery. Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries. The PERM process is longer, typically 18 to 36 months from labor certification through I-485 approval, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency rather than a visa that must be renewed.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for CAE Engineer roles?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL demonstrating that no minimally qualified U.S. worker was available for the role after a defined recruitment period. DOL reviews the application and either certifies it or requests an audit. Once certified, your employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. If your priority date is current, you can then file for adjustment of status or consular processing.
How can I find CAE Engineer jobs where the employer will actually sponsor a green card?
Most job postings don't explicitly advertise PERM sponsorship, which makes filtering by employer sponsorship history the most reliable approach. Migrate Mate surfaces CAE Engineer openings from employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 filing history, so you can focus your applications on companies that have already committed to sponsoring international engineers rather than discovering their policy only after an interview.
Can my employer start a PERM filing while I'm still on H-1B status?
Yes, and starting early is a practical advantage. PERM can be initiated at any point during your H-1B employment. Filing while you still have valid H-1B status preserves your work authorization while the green card process moves forward. If your I-140 is approved and your priority date is not yet current, you may be eligible to extend your H-1B beyond the standard six-year cap under AC21 portability provisions.
