Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Green Card Jobs
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires employers to document recruiting efforts before filing an I-140 immigrant petition. CGFNS credential verification, state licensure, and NCLEX passage are prerequisites that shape your sponsorship timeline and which employers can realistically file on your behalf.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner
Target hospital systems with active PERM filings
Large health systems and academic medical centers file PERM applications regularly for NP roles, making them far more capable of managing the recruitment documentation and prevailing-wage steps than smaller practices encountering the process for the first time.
Check prevailing wage requirements using OFLC Wage Search
Before accepting an offer, confirm the employer's posted salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your specialty and location. A wage shortfall discovered after PERM filing triggers a denial that restarts your entire priority date clock.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 classification with your employer
NP roles with a master's degree requirement typically qualify for EB-2 sponsorship, which can mean shorter wait times for certain countries. Ask the employer which category they intend to file under before signing any employment agreement.
Search for green card sponsoring NP employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters NP job listings by employers who have a documented history of green card sponsorship, so you're not spending time on applications where PERM is off the table before the first interview.
Negotiate PERM filing timing into your offer letter
PERM labor certification can take 18 months or longer from initial filing to I-140 approval. Getting written confirmation of when your employer will initiate the process protects you if the practice is acquired or your supervisor changes before filing begins.

Find Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner JobsCertified Registered Nurse Practitioner Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
NP roles can qualify under either category depending on how the employer defines the position. EB-2 applies when the job genuinely requires a master's degree, which many NP positions do. EB-3 covers roles where a bachelor's plus licensure meets the stated minimum. Your employer's PERM labor certification will specify the category, so confirm their intended classification before accepting an offer.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for NPs?
The PERM process leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary visa, so there's no renewal cycle or employer-change anxiety once your green card is approved. Unlike H-1B, EB-3 has no annual lottery, though per-country backlogs can extend timelines for applicants from high-demand countries. The full PERM-to-green-card process typically runs two to four years for most nationalities.
Which employers commonly sponsor green cards for Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners?
Large hospital networks, VA medical centers, federally qualified health centers, and academic medical institutions file PERM applications for NP roles most consistently. These organizations have dedicated HR or immigration teams that understand the DOL recruitment documentation requirements. Smaller private practices sometimes sponsor but may lack the administrative infrastructure to manage the process without specialized immigration counsel.
How can I find NP jobs where employers are willing to sponsor a green card?
Migrate Mate surfaces NP job listings filtered by employers with a documented PERM filing history, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to practices that have never sponsored a foreign worker. Because PERM sponsorship requires employer commitment well before your green card is approved, targeting employers already familiar with the process significantly reduces the risk of a sponsorship commitment falling through mid-filing.
Does my foreign nursing degree affect PERM eligibility or processing time?
Yes. USCIS and DOL require that your foreign credentials be evaluated for equivalency with U.S. educational requirements before your employer can complete the PERM application. CGFNS provides the standard credential evaluation for foreign-trained nurses. Delays in obtaining your evaluation report directly delay your employer's PERM filing date, which is also your priority date, so starting CGFNS early is critical.
