Green Card Cloud Developer Jobs
Cloud Developer roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. workers are available before filing your I-140 petition. Strong cloud architecture, DevOps, or platform engineering credentials support both pathways to permanent residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Cloud Developer
Document your cloud certifications before applying
AWS, Azure, and GCP certifications are referenced in PERM job descriptions and directly support the specialty occupation analysis. Compile them with transcripts and employment records before you start targeting sponsoring employers.
Filter employers by PERM filing history
Use Migrate Mate to search Cloud Developer roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history, so you're targeting companies that have already run the PERM process for this job category rather than ones that haven't.
Understand how your nationality affects EB-3 timelines
EB-3 has no annual cap on petitions, but visa number availability for nationals from India and China can mean multi-year waits before adjustment of status. Check the monthly Visa Bulletin to model your realistic timeline before accepting an offer.
Ask employers whether they use concurrent filing
If your priority date is current or your country faces no backlog, you can file I-140 and I-485 simultaneously, which cuts the overall timeline. Confirm whether your prospective employer's counsel is set up to handle concurrent filing for EB-2 or EB-3 cases.
Verify the job description matches PERM wage requirements
PERM requires the offered wage to meet or exceed the prevailing wage for your specific SOC code and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to confirm the posted salary aligns with DOL Level I through Level IV benchmarks before the employer files.
Check if your employer is E-Verify enrolled
PERM-sponsoring employers must be able to demonstrate legal employment authorization throughout the process. E-Verify enrollment signals an employer's compliance infrastructure is in place, which reduces the risk of complications during the labor certification and I-140 stages.
Green Card Cloud Developer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Cloud Developer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Cloud Developer positions typically qualify for both EB-2 and EB-3, depending on the degree and experience requirements in the PERM job description. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree or equivalent credentials. EB-3 covers positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Most mid-to-senior cloud engineering roles qualify for EB-2 when the employer can document the advanced-degree requirement.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Cloud Developer roles?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa with an annual lottery cap and a six-year maximum duration. PERM sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no lottery and no cap on petitions filed. The tradeoff is time: PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status can take two to four years or more. For nationals without visa backlog issues, it often runs concurrently with H-1B status.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for cloud roles?
The employer must conduct a federally prescribed recruitment process, document that no qualified U.S. workers applied for the position, and then file an ETA Form 9089 with the DOL. For Cloud Developer roles, the job description must specify the exact requirements used during recruitment. The process takes roughly six to eighteen months before PERM approval, after which the employer files the I-140 petition with USCIS.
Where can I find Cloud Developer jobs that already offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Cloud Developer roles specifically filtered by employers with green card sponsorship history, so you can avoid companies that have never run PERM and focus on those with an established process. Targeting employers who have already sponsored candidates in your job category reduces the risk of delays caused by employer inexperience with the labor certification filing.
Can I switch Cloud Developer employers while my green card case is pending?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules, you can change employers once your I-485 has been pending for 180 days or more, provided the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. Cloud Developer roles generally port well to other software infrastructure or platform engineering positions. You'll need a new employer sponsor letter and your attorney to confirm the roles are sufficiently similar for USCIS.
