Contract Nurse RN Green Card Jobs
Contract Nurse RN roles qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Hospitals and travel nursing agencies file on behalf of foreign RNs, leading to permanent residency rather than a temporary visa status.

Credential your nursing license before applying
CGFNS credential evaluation and NCLEX passage are prerequisites that PERM-sponsoring employers verify before initiating the labor certification. Get both completed early so your application isn't stalled while credentials clear.
Target acute care hospitals over staffing agencies
Direct-hire hospital roles carry a stronger PERM track record than contract staffing placements, since the employer must demonstrate a permanent, full-time position to DOL. Agency contracts often don't meet that requirement.
Search for sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate lets you filter Contract Nurse RN jobs by employers with active green card sponsorship history, saving you from applying to facilities that only offer H-1B or no sponsorship at all.
Clarify specialty and shift language in your job offer
DOL scrutinizes whether the PERM job description matches your actual duties. If your offer says ICU but you rotate through med-surg, the labor certification can be challenged during audit. Nail down the exact role definition before filing.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your prevailing wage tier
PERM requires your employer to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your nursing specialty and geographic location. Pulling the OFLC Wage Search data for your target metro before negotiating your offer helps ensure compliance from day one.

Find Contract Nurse RN JobsContract Nurse RN Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Contract Nurse RN role qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Contract Nurse RN positions typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers, provided the employer can demonstrate a permanent, full-time opening through the PERM labor certification process. The employer files with DOL first, then submits the I-140 immigrant petition to USCIS after certification is granted.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for nurses?
H-1B sponsorship is temporary, subject to an annual lottery cap, and requires specialty occupation status, which nursing sometimes struggles to satisfy at the bedside RN level. EB-3 green card sponsorship is permanent, has no annual lottery, and is designed precisely for skilled workers like RNs. The timeline is longer, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency.
How long does the PERM green card process take for a Contract Nurse RN?
The full process from PERM filing to green card approval typically runs two to four years for most countries, though nationals from India and China face significantly longer waits due to priority date backlogs. The PERM stage alone can take 12 to 18 months if DOL selects the application for audit review.
What credentials do I need before a U.S. hospital will start PERM sponsorship?
Most sponsoring hospitals require you to hold an active U.S. RN license in the state where you'll work, pass the NCLEX, and complete a CGFNS credential evaluation. Some employers also require English language test scores such as IELTS or TOEFL before initiating PERM. Having these documents ready speeds up the employer's decision to begin filing.
How do I find Contract Nurse RN jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface jobs with employment-based green card sponsorship. You can filter by role and sponsorship type so you're only seeing employers already set up to run the PERM process, rather than facilities that offer temporary work authorization only. That distinction saves significant time during your job search.
