Green Card DevOps Jobs
DevOps engineers are consistently sponsored for EB-2 and EB-3 green cards because the role meets PERM's specialty occupation threshold: a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is standard. Employers running PERM labor certification for DevOps positions typically document CI/CD pipeline expertise, cloud platform skills, and infrastructure automation as minimum requirements for sponsorship.

Match your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM requires your foreign degree to align with the job's minimum requirements. Get a credential evaluation confirming your degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in computer science or information systems before any employer initiates the process.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Search OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed PERM certifications under SOC code 15-1244 (Network and Computer Systems Administrators) or 15-1299 (Software Developers). Employers who have done it before face far fewer delays than those attempting it for the first time.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 path early
If your role requires only a bachelor's degree, most employers file EB-3. EB-2 applies when the position genuinely requires an advanced degree or you can document equivalent progressive experience. Settling this before the job offer avoids renegotiating the petition category mid-process.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Filter by DevOps job titles and green card sponsorship history on Migrate Mate to surface employers actively running PERM for this role, cutting out the guesswork of cold-applying to companies with no sponsorship track record.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
Employers must be E-Verify enrolled to sponsor certain work authorizations and to support your I-9 compliance throughout the green card process. Ask HR directly before signing an offer letter; non-enrolled employers can face complications with USCIS during the petition stage.
Document cloud certifications as a prevailing-wage anchor
PERM's required wage is based on the job duties as described, not your personal credentials. Certifications like AWS or Kubernetes aren't required for the petition, but they do strengthen your I-140 by demonstrating you meet the role requirements DOL certified.
Green Card DevOps: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a DevOps engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most DevOps positions are sponsored under EB-3 because the minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. EB-2 applies when the position requires a master's degree or the employer can document that the role demands a degree plus substantial specialized experience. The PERM job description, not your personal resume, determines the category.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for DevOps engineers?
H-1B visa is a temporary status capped at 65,000 slots annually with a lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap on the process itself, though EB-3 visa numbers are subject to per-country backlogs. The key difference is permanence: a successful I-140 and adjustment of status gives you a green card, not a renewable work authorization that expires with the employer relationship.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for a DevOps role?
Your employer files an application with DOL to certify that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. They must run a recruitment campaign, document the results, and submit the application through the PERM system. DOL then reviews the job requirements and prevailing wage. Only after PERM certification can the employer file your I-140 petition with USCIS.
How do I find DevOps employers who actively sponsor green cards?
PERM filing history is public data. You can cross-reference OFLC disclosure files to see which employers have certified DevOps positions in the past. Migrate Mate surfaces this data by role and employer so you can prioritize applications to companies with a proven sponsorship track record rather than asking employers to start from scratch.
Can I switch DevOps jobs after my employer files my green card petition?
Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is current, portability rules under AC21 allow you to change employers if the new role is in the same or similar occupational classification. For DevOps engineers, a move to a closely related infrastructure or platform engineering role typically qualifies. Changing jobs before I-140 approval generally requires restarting the PERM process with the new employer.
